B -1905 AN ORDINANCE providing for the expenditure of funds not provided for in the 1956 budget for the payment of. salaries for a street engineer, and an assistant engi- neer, two inspectors, three draftsmen, and an increase in the salary of the city engineer, deputy engineer, and chief inspector in the engineering department of the City of Yakima; and declaring an emergency. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: 11 Section 1. That an emergency exists requiring the expenditure of not to exceed 519,950.00 for the payment of the salary of a street engineer at $7,0.00.00 per year; an assistant engineer in the sum of $5,100.00 per year; for an inspector at $4,800.00 per year, and an inspector at $3,600.00 per year; for a draftsman at $4,000.00 per year; for two draftsment at $3,600.00 per year; and for the payment of a $900.00 per year increase to the city engineer; for the payment of 51,360.00 per year increase to the chief inspector; and for a.payment of $140.00 for the balance of 1956 to the Deputy Engineer. The said emergency has arisen by, reason of the extraordinary engineer- ing work entailed by: the damage done to the streets of the City of Yakima during the past winter, the installation of new gas lines in the streets of the City of Yakima, the proposed airport improvement program, the proposed industrial waste disposal pro- • jest, the water utility expansion program; all of which work could not reasonably have been foreseen at the time of the making of the 1956 budget. Section 2. The city treasurer is hereby authorized, empowered, and di- rected to issue emergency warrants upon the funds chargeable therefor upon the presen- tation of proper salary vouches for the payment of the services of a street engineer, and assistant engineer, two inspectors, and three draftsman, not provided for in the 1956 budget in the engineering department, in an aggregate amount not to exceed $18,491.66 for that part of the'cal.endar year 1956 from and after June' 1, 1956. Section 3. The city Treasurer is hereby authorized, empowered and di- - rected to issue emergency warrants upon the funds chargeable therefor upon the presen- tation of proper salary vouchers for the payment of services of: a city engineer an additional amount not to exceed in the sum of $525.00 for that. part of the calendar year 1956 from and after June, 1956, a chief inspector an additional amount not to exceed in the sum of $793.33 for that part of the calenday year 1956. from and after June, 1956, and a deputy engineer an additional amount not to exceed in the sum of $140.00 for that part of the calendar year 1956 from and after June, 1956. Section 4. This ordinance is one to provide for the expenditure of funds . not budgeted and an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage, approval, and publication as provided by law and the City Charter.
