AN ORDINANCE amending Section 37 of Penal Code Ordinance No. A -236 entitled "AN ORDINANCL
for the preservation of the public peace, safety, morality and good order
in the City of Yakima; defining who are disorderly persons and vagrants;
providing penalties for the violation thereof; repealing ordinances number-
ed 9, 11, 13, 1$, 25, 49, $6, 163, 172, 174, 1$2, 193, 213, 214, 215, 216,
219, 223, 227, 241, 271, 286, 295, 433, 498, 521, 618, 634, 652, 720, 730,
$41, $57, A -19, A -29, A -31, A -52, A -73, A -97 and A -134 and all other ordi-
nances and parts of ordinances in conflict therewith and declaring an emer-
gency;" prescribing penalties for the violation of said ordinance, and de-
claring an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Section 37 of Ordinance No. A -236, passed on January 2, 1917,
entitled as shown in the caption hereof, as amended by Ordinance No. B -8, passed on
August 31, 1931, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 37. Any person convicted of being a disorderly person or a vagrant
or convicted of violating any of the provisions of this ordinance, shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine in any sum
not exceed three hundred dollars ($300.00) or by imprisonment in the city
jail for a term not exceeding ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and
imprisonment."
Section 2. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preserva-
tion of public property, health and safety of the people of the City of Yakima; •
an emergency is declared to exist, and said ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after the date of its passage, approval and publication as provided by the city
charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COMMISSION, signed and approved this 30th day of
January, 1956.
