AN ORDINANCE relating to positions for turning motor vehicles, g P g ve 1 s, and amending paragraph
(a) of Section 45, of TrafficCode Ordinance No. B -1526, entitled "AN OR-
DINANCE relating to and regulating traffic, travel and transportation and
their incidents upon the streets and, other ways open to the public; pres-
cribing the powers and duties of officers and others in relation thereto;
defining offenses; providing penalties, and repealing Ordinance No. B -131
and all amendments thereof and all other ordinances in so far as they are
in conflict therewith, and declaring an l emergency't; as amended by Ordina-
j nce No. B -1546, and declaring emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OFYAKIMA:
Section 1. Paragraph (a) of Section 45, of Traffic Code Ordinance No. B-
1526 entitled as shown in the caption hereof, passed on December 31,1953, as amended by
Ordinance No. B -1546, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(a) Any person driving a motor vehicle upon a public highway and desiring
to make a turn to the right shall seasonably and purdently drive such ve-
hicle as close as is practicable to the extreme right -hand edge of the road-
way a reasonable distance before the point of making the turn, and in turn-
ing shall keep as close as practicable t the right -hand curb or edge of
the street. Any person driving a vehicle upon a public highway and desir-
ing to make a left hand turn at an intersection shall seasonably and pru-
dently drive such vehicle to the extreme left hand side of that portion of
the roadway lying to the right of the center of the highway a reasonable
distance before making such left hand turn. It shall be unlawful for any
person to make or attempt to make any right hand or left hand turn until he
has attained the proper relative driving position as aforesaid."
Section 2. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation
of the public peace, property, health and safety of the people of the City of Yakima,
and an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force
�!I and effect from and after the date of its passage, approval and publication, as provided
by the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COMMISSION; signed and approved, this 30th day of
January, 1956.

ded by Ordinance No. B -1546, and declaring an emergency." as passed this 30th day of
January, 1956, and that same has been published as required by law.
