B -1$23 AN ORDINANCE providing for the employment of a Part time city Civil Defense Director and providing for the expenditure of funds not budgeted not exceeding $1500.00 for the payment of his salary and expenses, and declaring an emergency. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. That the City of Yakima shall employ a city Civil Defense Direo- tor on a part time basis at a salary of 3100.00 per month, whose duties it shall be to have charge of the civil defense program in said city for that purpose to cooperate with the Yakima County Civil Defense Director. Section 2. That an emergency exists requiring the expenditure of a sum not exceeding $1500.00 for the payment of the salary of said Civil Defense Director, and ex- penses, and that funds therefor were not appropriated or included in the 1956 budget, and that it was impossible at the time of making said budget to have reasonably foreseen the need for such additional monies for said purposes. Section 3.. The City Treasurer is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to issue emergency warrants upon the funds properly chargeable therefor for the salary and expenses of said Civil Defense Director, in a sum as may be needed, not exceeding 1500.00, for the payment of the salary and office expenses of said Civil Defense Direc- tor during the year 1956. Section 4. This ordinance is one providing for the expenditure of funds not budgeted, and an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be- come effective immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and the city charter.
