AN ORDINANCE amending Sections 2, 3, 4 and 9 of Ordinance No. Ar-18 entitled "AN ORDINANCE
regulating billiard and pool rooms and bowling alleys, fixing and annual
license fee therefor, providing for the revocation thereof and a penalty
for the violation of this ordinance, repealing all ordinances and parts of
ordinances in conflice herewith and declaring an emergency ", and declaring
an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section.l. Section 2 of Ordinance No. A -18 passed on November 6, 1914 en-
titled as shown in the caption hereof, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 2. The license fee for each billiard table or pool table shall be
the sum of $25.00, and:for each bowling alley shall be the sum of $15.00, payable annual-
ly to the City Clerk in advance; provided that the full annual amount thereof shall be
payable during the year 1955 and each year thereafter when such license is issued here-
under.".
Section 2. Section 3 of Ordinance No. A -18 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Section 3. Any person desiring to obtain a license to open and conduct
any billiard and pool hall.or bowling alley shall make application therefor in writing
to the City Commission, which application shall particularly describe the premises where
such business is to be conducted and carried on during the continuance of such license;
said application shall be filed with the City Clerk, who shall present the same to the
City Commission at its next regular meeting, when the City Commission shall consider such
application-, and, if the same is in due form and if said applicant be deemed a suitable
person to conduct such business,. the City Commission shall accept or reject such appli-
cation, and, if accepted, make an order that a license issue to such applicant upon the
payment of the license. fee herein provided.
Section 3. Section 4 of Ordinance No. A-18 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Section 4. No license granted under the provisions of this ordinance shall
be assignable or authorize the operation or conducting of any billiard and pool hall or
bowling alley in any other: place or by any other persan than specified in said license. ".
Section 4. Section 9 of Ordinance No. A -18 is hereby amended to read as
follows-:
"Section 9. Any person failing to comply with the terms of this ordinance
or violating the terms thereof, or any part hereof, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and
upon conviction of such violation shall be punished by a fine in any sum not exceeding
$300.00 or by imprisonment in the city jail for a term not exceeding 90 days, or by both
such fine and imprisonment."
Section 5. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation
of the public peace, health and safety, and property, and an emergency is declared to
exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage,
approval, and publication, as provided by law' and the. City Charter.

1955.
