ORDINANCE.NO. B -1668

AN ORDINANCE amending Section 2 of Ordinance No. B -875, entitled "AN ORDINANCE regulatin,
the sale of goods,.wares, merchandise and services on the streets and side-
walks; prohibiting peddling from house to house in the City of Yakima; regu-
lating religious solicitations; providing a penalty for violation; repeal-
ing Section 1 (r) of Ordinance No. B -86, Section 13 of Ordinance No. A. -152,
Ordinance No. A-466, Ordinance No. B -650 and Ordinance No. B -785 of the
City of Yakima, and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith ", and prohibiting the sale, offering for sale or attempted sale of
merchandise, services, magazine subscriptions, cemetery lots, burial permit.:,
by personal solicitation at residences, and declaring and emergency.
• BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: .
Section Section 2 of Ordinance No. B -8?5 entitled as shown in the cap-
tion hereof, passed on May 17, 1948, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 2. For the purpose of this ordinance, the following definitions
of terms shall apply: .
Peddling means the sale, offering for sale or attempted sale of goods, wares,
merchandise, services, magazine subscriptions, one or more lots or
space in any cemetery, memorial park or memorial gardens, or burial
. permits, by personal solicitation upon private property occupied as
a residence whether.in.,,singie dwellings, duplexes, apartment
houses, hotels, or trailer camps, or any other place occupied- private-
ly for residence purposes or upon public parks or play grounds.

selling shall mean sales, offering for.sale •or attempted sales of goods, wares,
merchandise or services upon the streets, alleys or other public thoroug
fares of the City of Yakima." ' .

Section 2. If any provision of this ordinance or the application thereof
to any person or circumstances is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance and the
application of such provision to other persons or circumstances shall not be affected
thereby.
Section 3.. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation
of the public peace,: property, health and safety and an emergency is declared t� exist,
and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage, ap-
proval and publication as provided.by law and the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COMMISSION, signed and approved this 14th day of March,
1955.
