ORDINANCE NO = : B -1534
AN ORDINANCE for the preservation of the public peace, safety, morality, and good order
in the City of Yakima, by prohibiting false, misleading or unfounded reports
or statements to the Police Department; providing penalty for the violation
thereof, repealing Ordinance No. B- 1202,. and declaring and emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to cause or make any willfully
untrue, false, misleading, unfounded or exaggerated statement or report to the Police
Department of the City of Yakima, or to any officer or representative thereof, or to
willfully hinder, delay or obstruct any public officer in the discharge of his official
powers or duties, or to refuse or neglect, after due notice, to make or furnish any
statement, report, or information lawfully required of such person by a. public officer.
Section 2. Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this Ordinance
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor; and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a
fine in any sum not exceeding $300.00, or by imprisonment in the City Jail fro a term
not exceeding 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 3. Ordinance No. B -1202, approved on December 1, 1950, is hereby repealed;
but this shall not effect the right of said City to prosecute for any previous violation
thereof.
Section 4. This Ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation of the
public peace, health and safety of the people of the City of Yakima, and an emergency
is hereby declared to exist; and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after the date of its passage, approval and publication as provided by law.

passed this 1st day of February, 1954, and that same has been published as required by
law.
