AN ORDINANCE amending sub - division (a.) of Section '11 of Section 71 -a of Ordinance No.
B -131 entitled: "AN ORDINANCE relating t� and regulating traffic, travel
and transportation and their incidents upon the streets and other ways
open to the public;. rescribing the powers and duties of officers and others
in relation thereto; defining offenses, providing penalties -and repealing
certain ordinances concerned with or relating to the subject matter of
this ordinance, and declaring an emergency;" as amended by Ordinance No.
B -571, B -726, B -956, B -1068, B -1186, B -1192, B -1233, B -1246, B -1247, B -1261,
B -1267, B -1339, and B -1351; and declaring an emergency.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That Section 71 (a) of Ordinance No. B -131, passed and approved by the
City Commission on February 26, 1936, and entitled as set forth in .the caption hereof;
and the amendments thereto by Ordinance No. B -956, passed and approved by the City
Commission on December 6, 1948, and by Ordinance No. B -1068, passed and approved by the
City Commission on November 14, 1949; and by Ordinance No. B -1186, passed and approved
by the City Commission on October 16, 1950; and by Ordinance No 1233, passed and
approved by the City Commission on March 26, 1951; and by Ordinance No. B -1339, passed
and approved by the City Commission on December 31, 1951; and by Ordinance No. B -1351,
passed and approved by the City Commission on February 25, 1952; and by Ordinance No.
B -1440, passed and approved by the City Commission on March 30, 1953, be and the same
is hereby amended to read as follows:
"71 (a) One hour parking or angle parking: The operator of a vehicle
shall not stop, park or antle park such vehicle for a longer
continuous time than one hour between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and
6:00 P.M. of any day except .Sundays and holidays, upon the
following described portions .of the following ,named streets and
.avenues in the City of Yakima: .
Front Street: The west side from Yakima Avenue to Chestnut St.
( South)
•
Both sides from Chestnut Street to Walnut Street.
(North) Both sides from A Street to B Street.
East B Street: Both sides East B Street from Front to First St.
North 1st St.: Both sides North First Street from B to C Streets.
W. Walnut St.: The South side of "est Walnut Street, from South
Third Avenue to South Fourth Avenue.
E. Walnut St.: The North side of East Walnut Street, from the
alley between South Third Street and South Fourth
Street, East to South Fourth Street.
W. Yakima Ave. :Both sides of West Yakima Avenue, from 6th Avenue
west to 7th Avenue.
S. Fourth Ave. :The West side of South Fourth Avenue from Yakima
Avenue South to Chestnut Street.
W. Chestnut St.: Both sides of West Chestnut Street from South
Fourth Avenue West to the alley midway between
South Fourth Avenue and South Fifth Avenue.
"During said hours the operator of a vehicle shall not park the
same, except parallel parking, for not exceeding one hour upon
the following described portions of the following main streets
and avenues in said City:
Spruce Street: The south side of Spruce Street between South. 1st
Street and South 2nd Street.
Walnut Street: Both sides of Walnut Street from South 1st Street
to Front Street.
Each hour during which a vehicle is permitted by the driver there-
of to park or angle park in violation hereof, shall be deemed a
separate offense. Any person sho shall violate this provision of
this ordinance shall be fined not more than $1.00 for each such
offense."
,Section 2. That Section 71 -a of Ordinance No. B -131, passed and approved by the
City Commission on the 26th day of February, 1936, and entitled as set forth In the
caption hereof; as amended by Ordinance No. B -571, passed and approved by the City Comm-
ission on the 1st day of September, 1942; as amended by Ordinance No. B -726, passed and
approved by the City Commission on September 3, 1936; as amended by Ordinance No. B -956.
passed and approved by the City Commission on December 6, 1948; as amended by Ordinance
No. B -1186, passed and approved by the City Commission on October 16, 1950; as amended
by Ordinance No. B -1193, passed. and approved by the City Commission on the 30th day of
October, 1950;. as amended by Ordinance No. B -1247, passed and approved by the City Comm-
ission on the 21st day of May, 1951; as amended by Ordinance No. B -1261, passed and
approved by the City Commission on the 25th day of June, 1951; as amended by Ordinance
No. B -1267, passed and approved by the City Commission on the 23rd day of July, 1951;
and as amended by Ordinance No. -1432, passed and approved by the City Commission on
the 9th day of March, 1953, be and the same is hereby reamended to read as follows:
"Section 71 -a. Parking Meter Zones. That the following described portions
of the following named avenues and streets in the City of Yakima are hereby
established as Parking Meter Zones:

"Section 71-a. One hour parking meter zones:
The following described portions of the following named avenues and streets in
the City of Yakima are hereby established as one hour parking meter zones:
Both sides, East A St. from Front St. to Naches Ave.;:
Both sides, Yakima Ave., from Naches Ave. to 6th Ave., except first and last
meters on north and south sides of Yakima Ave. from Front to 1st St.;
first and last meters on north and south sides of Yakima Ave. from 1st
to 2nd St.; first and last meters on north and south sides of Yakima.
Ave. from 2nd to 3rd St.; first and last meters on north and south sides
on Yakima Ave. from 3rd to 4th St.; first and last meters on north and
south sides of Yakima Ave. from 4th St. to Naches Ave.; the north side
of West Yakima Ave. from the point 80 • ft. west of the west curb line on
North 1st Ave, thence west 43 ft.;
Both sides, East Chestnut St. from Front St. to 4th St.;
Both sides, 1st St. from B St. to Spuce St.;
Both sides, 2nd St. from B. St. to Walnut St.;
Both sides, 3rd St. from A St. to Walnut St.'; •
Both sides, 4th St. from A St. to Chestnut St.;
West side, North 2nd Ave. from Yakima Ave. to first alley;
West side, South 2nd Ave. from °Yakima Ave. to Chestnut St.; •
Both sides, South 3rd Ave. from Yakima Avenue to Chestnut St.;
East side, North 4th Street, from A St. to B. St (Parallel parking).
Section 3. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation of
the public peace, property, health and safety, and an emergency is declared to exist,
and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage,
approval and publication, as provided by law and the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COMMISSION, signed and approved, this 6th day of July, 1953.
