AN-ORDINANCE authorizing the purchase of 3,000 acre feet of water from the Grandview
• Irrigation District and the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation, for the sum of •
$22,,500.00; for dome stic purposes; from 'funds not budgeted in the 1952
budget, and declaring an emergency.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Yakima deems it necessary to •
procure additional domestic water for the City of Yakima,, and
WHEREAS, The City of Yakima can purchase 3,,000 acre feet of water from the
Grandview District and the U. S. • Bureau of reclamation for the • total sum of
$22,,500..00 cash, which sum is the fair and reasonable market value of said water, and
WHEREAS,. the opportunity of purchasing 3,000 acre feet of water for the
City of Yakima could not reasonably have been foreseen at the time of the adoption of
the 1952. budget. Nowt', therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That 3,.000 acre feet of water be purchased for domestic use .
by the City of Yakima from the Grandview Irrigation District and the U. S. Bureau of
Reclamation for the sum of $22,500.00. '
• Section 2. That the sum of $6,750.00 be paid to the Grandview Irrigation
District, and the sum of $15,,750.00 be paid to the-U. S. Bureau of Reclamation by the
issuance of warrants•upon the proper fund of said City;; upon delivery to said City of
a good and sufficient contract between the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation and the City,
transferring the water right to 3'•,,000 acre feet of water from the Grandview. Irrigation
District to the City of Yakima, and changing the point of diversion of said water
from its present point of diversion to a point in the vicinity of Nelson Bridge on the
Na.ches. River in Section 9 -13 -18 E.W.M. and changing the pa riod of delivery of said
water to extend throughout the period of re]e ase of storage water from the Yakima
Project storage reservoir during each year.
Section 3:. That it is hereby declared and found. to be that a. public: •
emergency exists necessitating the passage of this ordinance which public emergency
could not'reasonably have been foreseen at the time of the adoption of the 1952 budget,
and that it is necessary to make the expenditure of money herein provided for, to
provide for the immediate preservation of the public pace, property and safety of the
people of the City of Yakima; and this ordinance shall be in full force and-effect from •
and after its passage, qproval and publication as provided by law and the City Charter.

PASSED AND APPROVED by the unanimous vote of the City Commission, on
this 25th day of June, 1952.
