A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the City Manager of the City of Yakima to acquire the
property at 3`d and Walnut Street (Assessor's Parcel. No. 191319-24459).
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima has evaluated the acquisition of the property located at 3rd and
Walnut Street (Assessors Parcel No. 191319-24459); and
WHEREAS, an option to purchase the property provided the City with the opportunity to
consider potential issues related to acquisition that have come to Tight from a prior Phase 1
environmental analysis; and
WHEREAS, due diligence required more advanced environmental analysis encompassing
inspections, surveys and environmental assessments, including but not limited to excavation and
drilling for purposes of a Phase 11 environmental analysis; and
WHEREAS, a • Phase 11 environmental analysis was completed and the City has determined
that acquisition is in the best interests of the community; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Manager of the City of Yakima is herby authorized and directed to acquire property at
3rd and Walnut Street (Assessor's Parcel No. 191319-24459) in the best interests of the community for
an amount not to exceed $350,000.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The City of Yakima has evaluated the acquisition of the property located at 3rd and Walnut
Street (Assessors Parc& No. 191319'24458\.
An option to purchase the property provided the City with the opportunity to consider potential
issues related to acquisition that have come to light from a prior Phase | environmental
analysis. Due diligence required more advanced environmental analysis encompassing
inspact)ons, surveys and environmental aagaesnnante, including but not limited to excavation
and driIing for purposes ofa Phase 11 environmerital analysis.
A Phase U environmental analysis was completed and the City has determined that
acquisition is in the best interests of the community. The purchase price of $350,000 is the
result of negotiations between the City and the property owner and is based upon appraisals
secured by each party. The funding source is as foUovva: Cable TV tax $150.000.
ConhnQenoyfund $100,000 and Law and Justice Capital Reserves $100,000.
Council has been briefed in executive session on this property acquisition throughout
