ORDINANCE NO. B -1216
AN ORDINANCE amending Sections 7, 8, 15(a) and 20, of Ordinance No. B -810, entitled
"AN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating the erection and maintenance of
advertising signs, billboards and banners in the City of Yakima; regulating
advertising on the streets of the City; requiring a license for bill post-
ing, a bond and license for sign erectors, a permit for the erection of
signs and billboards and the inspection of such signs and billboards; pro -
viding for license permit and inspection fees; fixing penalties for the
violation thereof and repealing Ordinance No. A -138, passed and approved
by the City Commission November 14, 1913, and any and all ordinances
amendatory thereof."
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That Section 7 of Ordinance No. B -810, passed and approved by
the City Commission September 29, 1947, and entitled as set forth in the caption here-
of, be and the same is hereby amended to read .a as follows:
"Section 7. PERMIT: No sign, banner or signboard, greater that two
square feet in area, or projecting beyond the property line more than
twelve inches, shall be erected within the City of Yakima except as
prescribed in this ordinance; nor until a permit therefor shall have
been issued by the Building inspector. No permit shall be granted until
an application has been filed with the Building Inspector giving such
information as shall be required by the Building Inspector."
Section 2. That Section 8 of Ordinance No. B -810, passed and approved by
the City Commission September 29, 1947, and entitled as set forth in the caption hereof,
be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto the following=
"OTHER SIGNS- 81.00 per sign; for all other signs, banners or signboards,
greater than 2 square feet in area, or projecting beyond the property
line more than 12 inches." .
Section 3. That Section 15 (a) of Ordinance No. B -810, passed and approved
by the (City Commission September 29, 1947, and entitled as set forth in the caption
hereof, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 15. INSPECTIONS: (a) "All signs now or hereafter erected
extending three feet or more beyond the property line or of more than
ten square feet in area, shall be inspected annually by an officer or
employee of the City of Yakima; provided, that skeleton signs, con -
sisting of gas- filled glass tubing only, need not be inspected; and
provided further, that skeleton signs made by fastening each individ-
ual letter directly to the wall need not be inspected unless said letters
are more than 24 inches in height. The annual charge for such inspect-
ion shall be $1.00 for each such sign inspected, payable in advance by,
the owner on the first day of January of each year; provided, that no
inspection fee other than the permit fee, as required in Section 8
hereof, shall be charged against any sign which has been erected less
than six months prior to the inspection date."
Section 4. That Section 20 of Ordinance No. B -810, passed and approved
by the City Commission September 29, 1947, and entitled as set forth in the caption
hereof, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto Section 2U (d), to read
as follows:
"Section 20 (d). No projecting sign may extend more than two- thirds
of the distance from the property line to the street curb; nor more
than 10 feet beyond the property line, whichever is the lesser."
Section 5. This Ordinance shall become effective 30 days after its
passage, approval and publication, in the manner provided by law and the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY 'COMMISSION, signed and approved, this 29th day of
January, 1951.

that same has been published as required by law.
