B -1095 AN ORDINANCE establishing a Housing Authority for the City of Yakima pursuant to the Federal Housing Act of 1949, authorizing the City Commission to approve loan requests for preliminary planning and referring the same to vote Of the people of the City of Yakima as provided by the City Charter. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. That the Mayor of the City of Yakima be and he hereby is authorized and directed to appoint a requisite number of individuals to constitute a Housing Authority for the City of Yakima under the provisions of Title 3 of the Federal Housing Act of 1949. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Yakima is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to consider and to approve any requests for loans or grants of money from the Federal Housing Adminiatrgtion or other pertinent Federal agencies for preliminary planning for construction of low income housing as con- templated by said Title 1 of the Federal Housing Act of 1949, if and when such re- quests for loans shall be made byr the Yakima Housing Authority, to be constituted under ' the provisions of this ordinance. Section 3. This ordinance shall be submitted to the vote of the electors of the City of Yakima at the general City election to be held in the City of Yakima, on the 14th day of March, 1950, and shall become effective immediately if approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon, as shown by an official canvass of the returns of said election and the publication thereof.
