The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Stratton and Commissioners Clark and
Traub present on roll call.
Moved by Stratton, seconded by Clark that the minutes of the regular meeting of Monday,
June let, 1931 be approved as read: carried, Stratton,..Clark and Traub voting aye on
roll call.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Stratton that the City Clerk is hereby-..authorized to give
notice to contractors for constructing a rest room at the City Park on North 4th Street
and also one at the Lion's'Park on South 6th Avenue: carried, Stratton, Clark and Traub
voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Stratton that the following claims be allowed and the City
Clerk authorized to issue warrants therefor: carried, Stratton, Clark and Traub voting
aye on roll call.

Moved by Stratton, seconded by Clark that the canvass of the returns of the special -
election held on the 8th day of June, 1931, for voting on the proposed charter and offi-
cers thereunder as reported by the City Clerk is hereby approved and recorded herein as
follows: carried, Stratton, Clark and Traub voting aye on roll call.
CANVASS -OF THE RETURNS OF THE- SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF YAKIMA,
WASHINGTON, ON THE 8th DAY OF JUNE 1931, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ADOPTING OR REJECTING THE
PROPOSED CHARTER FOR SAID CITY SUBMITTED BY THE BOARD OF FREEHOLDERS THEREOF ELECTED
MARCH 16th, 1931, AND FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING OFFICIALS TO SERVE UNDER SAID CHARTER.
I, Pearl Benjamin, the duly appointed, qualified and acting clerk of the_ City
of Yakima, Washington, and charged by law and by ordinance of the City of Yakima with
the -duty of canvassing the votes cast at the special election held on the 8th day of
June, 1931, for the purpose of adopting or rejecting a charter submitted by.the board
of freeholders of said city elected March 16th, 1931, and for the purpose of electing
officers to serve under said charter, do hereby certify that I have carefully and com-
pletely canvassed the returns at said election; that the number of votes cast for and
against the proposition and candidates are as follows, to-wit:
For the Proposed Charter...... 1394
Against the Proposed Charter ... 860
For Mayor, W. W. Stratton:.... 1659
For Commission of Finance
and Accounting, Ray,Washburn..1791
For Commission of Public Works:

I therefore find and determine from the above and foregoing canvass and
totals that said proposed charter carried, and is therefore adopted as the charter of

the City of Yakima, and that 'ff. W. Stratton was elected to the office of Mayor; Ray
Washburn to the office of Commissioner of Finance and Accounting and Geo. W. Clark to
the office of Commissioner of Public Works.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and seal of the City of
Yakima, Washington, this 9th day of June, 1931.
