The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Buck and Commissioner Bishop present
on roll call, Commissioner Clark absent.
Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that the minutes of the regular meeting of Monday,
March 31st, 1947, and adjourned meeting be approved as reads carried, Buck and Bishop
voting aye on roll call, Clark absent.
Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that the City Clerk is hereby instructed to give noti
to contractors by publication as required by law for the construction of sidewalk
districts as follows; West side of Fifth Avenue.North from - Willow Street to Quince
Street; Both sides of Nineteenth Avenue from Division to Mac Laren; zouth side of West
Chestnut' from South 5th Avenue to 6th Avenue South; West "side of Fifth Avenue from West
Chestnut to 100 feet North of West Walnut; south side of Summitview Avenue from Twenty -
fifth -Avenue North to ninety -four ( 94) feet-east of Twenty - fourth Avenue North; said bi
to be received on Monday, May 5, 1947. at 10 of clock A. M: carried, Buck and Bishop
voting aye on roll call, Clark absent.
Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that the City Clerk is hereby instructed to give
notice to contractors by publication as required by law for constructing irrigation
districts as follows: North Hillcrest Irrigation System; Lots Sixty -nine (69) to One
Hundred Thirteen (113) inclusive Brackett Park Addition; Sub- district No. Seventeen (17)
of General Irrigation system in Central Park Addition; Blocks one and two (1 & 2)
De Atley Park Addition; Lots Six (6) to Nine (9). Block One (1), and Lots, One (1) to.
Eighteen (18) , inclusive, Block Two (2) , in Suimnitview Addition; said bids to be re-
ceived on Monday, May 5, 1947 at 10 o'clock A.M.: carried, Buck and Bishop voting aye
on roll, call, Clark absent.
Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that the City Clerk is hereby instructed to advertises;
for bids by publication as required by law for the construction of the removal of the
street car tracks on Yakima. Avenue from Seventh Avenue to Naches Avenue and on North
Eighth from Yakima Avenue to "G" Street; also the construction of curbs and gutters
on Twenty -sixth Avenue South from-Nob-Hill Boulevard to Tieton Drive; said bids to be
received on Monday April 28th, 1947, at 10 o'clock A.M.: carried, Buck and Bishop vot-
ing aye onro.Ll call, Clark absent.
RESOLUTION NO. C -724, WHEREAS the City of Yakima is, and will continue to be for an
indefinite period, in need of water meters in connection with its V' dater'Department, and
due to the unsettled condition of the market it is impossible to s ecure bids under terms
as favorable as can be secured in the open market;
AND WHEREAS it will be to the best interests of the City to
authorize the purchase of such water meters in the open market.,
NOW THEREF ORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
Yakima,'Washington, that an emergency exists with reference to the purchase of, water
meters, and therefore the Purchasing Agent of the City be and he is hereby authorized
to purchase water meters upon such terms as will be for the best interests of the Gity
in the open market and that this resolution'shall be in full force and effect for a
period of one year from the passage thereof.

RESOLUTION•NO., .C- •725,' BE IT RESOLVED BY THE 'CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKI.MAo WASH
That it is its intention to improve Hanratty Drive in the City
of Yakima from Stewart Street to the north line of Lot -31 of Yakima Acre Tracts, by
constructing concrete curbs and gutters, all of said improvement to be constructed in
full accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepared by the City Engineer and
filed with the City Clerk.
The district to be served by and assessed for the above described
improvement is situate in Yakima County, Washington and described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at a point on the north line of Stewart Street
54.21 feet east of the east line of Hanratty Drive; thence
north and parallel with said east line to a point east of the
northeast corner of Lot 31 of Yakima Acre Tracts; thence westerly
to a point 80 feet west of the west line of Hanratty Drive;
thence southerly and parallel with said west line to the north
line of Stewart Street; thence easterly along said north line
to the point of beginning.
All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improve-
ment are hereby notified to appear and present such objections, if any, at a meeting
of the City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City, of Yakima,
Yakima County, Washington, at the hour of 10 o'clock A.IJI., on Monday the 28th day of
April, 1947, which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters re-
lating to sail. proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the
method of payment for said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give
due notice of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.
The cost and expense of said improvement, including the cost of
acquiring right of way easements, engineering, surveying, advertising, publication of
notices, and all other expenses incident thereto., shall be tForne by and assessed against
all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by law and as
above described; and the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the City :Cormnis-
sion at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of tY�e data and other

RESOLUTION N0, C -726, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA, WASHINGTON:
That it is its intention to construct a domestic water system to
serve all of the lots and tracts of land included within the following described
district situated in Yakima County, Washington:
Beginning at the intersection of the center line of West
Lenox Avenue with the east,line of Terminal Addition; thence
southeasterly along said east line to a point 140 -feet east
of the east line of.Ledwich Avenue; thence southerly and
parallel with said east line to a point 2551 north of the
north line of Meade Avenue, said point being the northwest
corner of Lot 13 of the Homer Boggess Half Acre Tracts; .
thence easterly and parallel with meade Avenue to the north-
east corner of Lot 14 of the. said Half Acre Tracts; thence
southerly along the east line of said Lot 14 to Mead Avenue;
thence westerly along Mead Avenue to Fifth Avenue South;
thence southerly along Fifth Avenue South to King Street;
thence westerly along King Street to Sixth Avenue South;
thence northerly along Sixth Avenue South to Mead Avenue;.

said improvement to consist of the installation of the necessary mains, fire hydrants,
valves and other appurtenances for the purpose of supplying water for domestic use, and
to b-e constructed in full accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepared
by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk.
All persons who may desire to object tocaaid proposed improvement
are hereby notified to appear and present such objection, if any, at a meeting of the
City Commission, to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima,
Yakima County, Washington, at the hour of 10 :00 o'clock A. M. on Monday, the 19th day
of May, 1947, which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing on all matters re-
lating to the said proposed imrpovement, or objections thereto, and for .determinging
the method of payment therefor; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due
notice of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.
The cost and expense of said improvement, including the cost of
acquiring right of way easements, engineering, surveying, advertising, inspection,
publication of notices and all other expenses incident thereto shall be borne by and
assessed against all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor, as pro-
vided by law and as above de "scribed; and the City Engineer is hereby directed to sub-
mit to the City Commission at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all
of the data and other information required by law to be by him submitted.

Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that this being the time for the hearing on Resolu-
tion No. C -715 for constructing a sidewalk on the south side of Summitview Avenue from
Twenty -fifth Avenue North to a point ninety -four ( 94) feet east of Twenty - fourth Avenue
North, four (4) feet in width, and there being insufficient protest in wkiting against
said improvement or any part thereof; it is ordered that the ordinance creating a
Local - _Improvement District be passed: carried, Buck and Bishop voting aye on roll call,
Clark absent.
ORDINANCE NO. B -771, AN ORDINANCE providing for the improvement of the south side of
Summitview Avenue of Yakima., Washington from'25th Avenue North to a point 94 feet east
of 24th Avenue North be constructing a Portland Cement concrete sidewalk four feet in
width; establishing a Local Improvement District, providing for the.method of payment
therefor, and creating a special fund.

ORDINANCE NO. B -772, AN ORDINANCE amending Section 3 of Ordinance No. B -386, entitled.
"AN ORDINANCE regulating the operation and use of bicycles; providing for the licensing
thereof; regulating bicycle agencies; providing penalty for the violation thereof; and
declaring an emergency."

ORDINANCE NO. B -7732 AN ORDINANCE fixing the time of delinquency of installments of
assessments levied for the payment of the cost of the improvement in Local Improvement
District No. 606, and providing for the issuance of bonds with coupons attached for the
payment of the unpaid portion thereof.

The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment., Mayor Buck and Commissioner Bishop
present on roll call, Commissioner Clark absent.
RESOLUTION NO. C -7271 WHEREAS, it is the desire of Yakima County, Washington and of
the United States, to construct and perpetually maintain certain river bank protection
works along the south and'west banks of the Yakima River in the southwest quarter of the
northeast quarter of Section 20, Township 13 North, Range 19 E.W.i~:q., Yakima County, Wash-
ington.,
And WHEREAS, a portion of said improvement is to be made upon
lands now owned by, the City of Yakima and it is necessary for said City to grant unto
Yakima County, Washington a perpetual easement along and over said land and it is for
the best interests of the City of Yakima that said construction be made,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF YAKIMA :
Section 1. That the City of Yakima shall grant unto Yakima shall
County, Washington an easement 100 feet wide for the construction by the United States,
and the perpetual maintenance by Yakima County of bank protection works along the south
and west banks of the Yakima River in the southwest quarter.of the northeast quarter of
Section 20, Township 13 North, Range 19 E.W.1,1., Yakima County, WaEh ington; the center
line of said easement to be described as follows:
Beginning at-a point on the north line of the southwest
quarter of the northeast quarter of said Section 20, 570
feet south and 880501 east from the northwest corner of
said subdivision; thence south 29010.1 east 510 feet, and
beginning at a point on the south line of said subdivision
1180 feet south and 880501 east from the southwest corner of
said subdivision; thence north 13001 west 360 feet.

RESOLUTION NO C -728, WHEREAS, Milton Holland on March 19, 1947, filed with the City
Clerk his duly verified claim for damages, said claim being in the amount of $10,042.00
and said- damages arising out of injuries sustained by said claimant from an alleged fall
into a trench opened by the City of Yakima across the intersection of Fair Avenue and
East Yakima Avenue, said injuries occurring on March 11, 19470
And WHEREAS, the claimant has offered to settle and compromise
said claim and to fully and completely release the City of Yakima from all liability
therefor upon the payment by the City of Yakima to kii:m of the sum of $525.00, and it
being for the best interests of the City of Yakima to accept said offer of compromise
settlement,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY CO ,11ISSION OF THE CITY
OF YAKIMA :
That the claim of Milton Holland for damages arising out of in-
juries sustained by him at Fair and East Yakima Avenue in the City of Yakima on March
11, 1947, be compromised and settled by the payment to said claimant cC the,sum of $525.
and the City Treasurer is hereby_ authorized and directed. to draw a warrant upon the
proper fund of the City of Yakima in said sum to the order of said claimant in full
settlement of said claim and to deliver said warrant to the claimant upon his executing
and delivering a full and complete release to the City of Yakima for said injuries.

Yakima, Washing ton.
