The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Mogren and Commissioners White and
Clark present on roll call.
Moved by Mogren, seconded by White that the minutes of the regular meeting of Monday,
April 26th, 1943 and adjourned meeting thereof be approved as read: carried, Mogren,
White and Clark voting aye on roll call.
Movers by White, seconded by Mogren that the following payrolls be allowed and the City
Clerk authorized to issue warrants as follows: City Street $1486.32; Irrigation
$134.27; Sanitation $108.48; Cemetery $590.00; Police Dept. $143.00; Water $75.60; -
carried., Mogren, White and Clark voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Cla.r, seconded by White that the amended claim of Emma. J. Dean, in the sum
o f $5,000.00 for-damages alleged to have been sustained by reason of falling on an
icy sidewalk in'front of Lot 1, Block 109, in the City of Yakima on the 23rd day of
January, 1943 is hereby denied: carried, Mogren, White and Clark.voting aye on roll
call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -567, A RESOLUTION providing for the payment of a bonus to members of
r` the Police and Fire Departments of the City of Yakima for faithful performance of'their
duties for the balance of the year 1943, and for the source of such payment.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima has heretofore created a fund desig-
nated State Aid Fund pursuant to the 1943 Session Laws of the State of Washington,
in which fund there is $12,825.42; and
WHEREAS, an emergency has arisen in that unless increased compen-
sation is again provided. for members of the Police and Fire Departments of the City
of Yakima, many additional employees in these departments will leave their employment
and take other available employment at higher renumeration; and
WHEREAS, many of the employees of these departments have already
left the employ of the City of Yakima and it is. impossible to replace said employees
with suitable or proper employees and it is to the best intereGt-of the City to increase
the compensation of the members of said departments as� hereinafter provided, said com-
pensation to be paid by way of a bonus to the end of the current year to those employ-
ees remaining in the employ of the City; and
WHEREAS,"the State•Aid Fund is permitted to be expended for such
purpose and expenditures therefrom need not be budgeter for the currrent year; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE.CITY OF.YAKIMA:
1. That there be paid increased co.mpensa.ti.on by way of a. bonus,
as hereinafter provided, to the employees and members of the Police and Fire Depart-
ments in the f oilowing amounts':

2. That.the bonus herein above provided -for is figured on the
basis of nine months from April 1 to January 1, and if any person shall be added to
either said. Fire or Police Department or any former member reinstated, or should any
present member of the Police or Fire Department be changed or moved from one rank or
grade to another, then and. in such event, such member of either of said Departments who
shall otherwise be entitled to a bonus as herein provided, shall receive a bonus com-
puted on the basis of 1/9 of the bonus herein above provided for the particular grade
or rank occupied by such member for each month that such member shall have occupied -
said rank or grade.
3. That said bonus be paid only to those members of the Police
and Fire Departments holding the above mentioned, ranks or gradee., who remain in the
employ of the City of Yakima in said Fire or Police Departments for the remainder of
the present calendar ,year, or if hereafter employed, from the time of their employment
to the end of the calendar year, and faithfully perform and discharge their duties, and
that said bonus shall be paid on December 20 or as soon thereafter and prior to Decem-
ber 31, 1943 as can be conveniently done.
4. That said bonus is paid as increased compensation to those
employees so remaining in the service and employ of the Police and Fire Departments
of the City of Yakima as an inducement to said employees to remain in their present
employment and to enable.the City of Yakima to carry on and maintain its essential
governmental functions.
5. That said bonus when paid shall be paid from the State Aid
Fund heretofore created by Ordinance No. B -594.

RESOLUTION NO. C -568, A RESOLUTION authorizing the sale of a strip of land 12 feet
wide and. 130 feet long lying west of and adjacent to Lot 12, Block 28, Elberta Addition
to North Yakima (now Yakima).
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima. is the owner of the following des.cri
ed real property situated in Yakima. County, State of Washington, to -wit:
A strip of land 12 feet wide and 130 feet long
lying west of and adjacent to Lot 12, Block 28,
Elberta Addition to North Yakima (now Yakima.),
in Southwest 1/4 of the Southeast 1/4 of the
Southwest 1/4 of Section 13, Township 13 North,
Range 18, E. W. M. (City Tract No. 125)
by reason of a deed issued by the City Treasurer of Yakima, State of Washington, to
said City of Yakima, on sale of said property for delinquent assessments, and
WHEREAS, it appears to be, for the best interest of said City of
Yakima to sell said premises to BEN HAUSER and`EMMA HAUSER, husband and wife-
NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF YAKIMA, WASHINGTON:
That said above described premises be and. they are hereby author-
ized to be sold to BEN HAUSER and EMMA HAUSER, husband and wife, for the total sum of
Sixty and No /100 Dollars (- $60.00), and the Mayor, A. W. Mogren, is hereby authorized
to execute a deed to said premises, and the City Clerk, Pearl Benjamin, is hereby
authorized and directed to attest the same for and on behalf of the said City of Yakima.
