Moved by Riley, seconded by Washburn that the minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, December lst', 1941 be approved as read: carried, Riley, Washburn and Clark voting aye on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. C -535, WHEREAS, the territorial possessions of the United States have been attacked, and a state of war exists between the United States and a foreign power; and WHEREAS, in view of said events it is necessary that additional equipment be purchased and.required for the Fire Department of the City of,.Yakima in order that it be prepared for eventualities; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED'by,the City Commission that an emergency does and is hereby declared to exist, and that,the City of Yakima purchase immediately and forthwith, the.following equipment for the Fire Department of the City of Yakima: Hose truck; Truck body; Turret nozzle,. 1000 gallon capacity; Nozzles, 4 - 22 inch with shut -off; Nozzles, 2 - 11 inch with shut -off; Nozzles, 2 - 21 inch vapor style; Reverse couplings, 2 sets 22 inch; Gas masks, 2 all - service; Siren; Oscillating light; Hose clamps, 2 Herbert; Siamese connection, 1 with clapper valves; Hose, 1000 feet 3 inch; Hose, 1500 feet 22 inch; Hose, 200 feet 12 inch; Hydrant wren'che's, 7 combination style; Firemen helmets, 30; Turnout suits, 6; and such other minor miscellaneous small items of equipment as may be necessary in connection therewith. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in view of the emergency existing, that said equipment be purchased without calling for bids therefor. RESOLUTION NO. 0-536, WHEREAS, the City of Yakima, for value received, did heretofore sell, assign, transfer and set over to the Selah State Bank five City of Yakima six per cent Sewer Bonds due December 1, 1941, in the principal amount of One Thousand ($1,000.00).Dollars each, numbered 76, 77, 78, 79 and 80, respectively, and WHEREAS, the validity of said.Assignment has been questioned; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Forrest Herring, as the duly appointed, qualified and acting Treasurer of the City of Yakima, be and he is hereby authorized, directed and empowered to execute an assignment of said bonds above de- scribed to the Selah State Bank. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that payment of said bonds and coupons attached thereto be made to the Selah State Bank. ADOPTED by the City Commission this 8th day of December, 1941. ASSI G-NMENT For value received, the undersigned, being the duly appointed, oualified and wting Treasurer of the City of Yakima, does hereby SELL, ASSIGN,, TRANSFER AND SET OVER unto the SELAH STATE BANK, five (5) City of Yakima six per cent fewer Bonds, each due December 1, 1941, in the principal amount of One Thousand ($1,000.00) Dollars each, numbered 76, 77, 78,:79 and 80; and the undersigned does hereby furhter ratify and confirm the previous assignment heretofore made of said bonds to the Selah State Bank. C E R T I F I C A T E THIS IS TO CERTIFY that Forrest Herring is now the duly appointed qualified and acting Treasurer of the City of Yakima, and was such officer at.the time he signed the foregoing Assignment of Bonds to the Selah State Bank. B -542, entitled, "AN ORDINANCE granting emergency powers to the Fire, Police, Health and Water departments of the City of Yakima, and declaring an emergency ", was introduced by Riley and -read by the City Clerk. Moved. by Washburn, seconded by Clark that Ordinance No. B -542 be passed to its second, reading and read by title only: carried, Riley, Washburn and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Washburn, seconded-by Clark that Ordinance No. B -542 be passed'to its third reading and read in full: carried, Riley, Washburn and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Washburn, seconded by Clark that Ordinance No. B -54 -2 be passed as finally read: carried, Riley, Washburn and Clark voting aye on roll call. ADJOURNED MEETING, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12, 1941, 9 A. M. The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Riley and Commissioners Wash- burn and Clark present on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. C -537, A RESOLUTION authorizing the expenditure of an additional sum of money for the improvement of certain streets in the City of Yakima: WHEREAS: Due to an increase in the cost of the base, the total cost of City Street Project No. 27 amounted to $6642.96 instead of $6326.00 as shown in Resolution No. C -501. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: That the expenditure of an additional sum of $316.96 be and the same is hereby authorized under the provisions of Chapter 187 of the Laws of 1937.
