The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and Huey
present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of the City Commission of Tuesday, June 27, 1955, were
approved as read.
This being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. C -1249, providing for the improve-
ment of Lots 1 to 16,.Block 2, of Shannon Homes Addition, by constructing concrete curbs
and gutters, and 'a group of property owners--residing in said district appearing before
the City Commission with a request that said improvement be postponed until an irrigation
system was installed to serve said property; it was MOVED by Huey, seconded by Huza that
the curb and gutter project.be postponed until such time as an irrigation districtcan be
constructed: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that the creation of a local Improvement district in the
Rolling Green Addition, be postponed until Monday, July 11th, 1955 at 10 otclock a.m:
Carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that the postponed hearing on Resolution C -124$, provid-
ing for the construction of curbs and gutters on Thornton Lane from Buwalda Lane to North
4th Street be postponed to Monday, August 8, 1955,..at 10 otclock a.m: carriEd, Burns,
Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
This-being the time for receiving bids on paving the alleys in Blocks 132 and 133, the
following were received: Columbia Paving Company in the sum of $2150,50and the Lone Pine
Paving Company in the sum of $2107.00. It was MOVED by Huey, seconded by Huza that the
bid of the Lone Pine Paving Company in the sum of $2107.00, be accepted as the lowest and
best bid, and the Mayor and City Clerk instructed to enter into a constrict on behalf of
the City of Yakima with said contractor for the construction of said work upon the filing
of the proper.bond as provided by law: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll
call.
This being the time for the receiving of bids for the construction of curbs and gutters
West Prasch Avenue ffom 8th Avenue to 9th Avenue and no bids being received for doing
said work, it was MOVED by Huey, seconded by Huza that a further notice to bidders be
postponed until a later date: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that Jack Calderon and Rita'Calderon, husband and wife,
are hereby given permission to connect to the city sewer main on the following described
property: the South 2661 of the East 1/2 of the SE' of the NW1 of the NE4 of Section
23 -13 -18 E.W.M, excepting therefrom the West 174' and the East 201 and the South 30t for
road purposes. The charge.for said service is to be the sum of $48.00 per year, payable
in advance: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.

Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns that Ordinance No. B -1707, fixing the time of delinquen-
cy of installments of assessments in L.I.D. No. 799, be passed as read: carried, Burns,
Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -17079 AN ORDINANCE fixing the time of delinquency of installments of
assessments levied for the payment of the cost of the improvement in Local Improvement
District No. 799, and providing for the issuance of bonds with coupons attached for the
payment of the unpaid portion thereof.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns that Ordinance No. B- 1708,,fixing the salaried of the
Mayor and City Commissioners and superceding Section 5, of Article 11 of the City Charter
be passed as read: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on-roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -170$, AN ORDINANCE fixing the salaries of the Mayor and City Commission-
ers, and superseding Section 5 of Article II-of the City Charter.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that Resolution No.. C -1257, being a resolution of inten-
tion to improve 21st Avenue South from Nob Hill Boulevard to West Viola Avenue and West
Prasch Avenue, from 20th Avenue South to 22nd Avenue South by grading, ballasting, sur-
facing and constructing concrete curbs and gutters, and fixing Monday, the 25th day of
July at the hour of 10 otclock a.m. as the date of hearing on said resolution, be adopted
as read: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -12571 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That it is its intention to improve 21st Avenue South from Nob
Hill Boulevard to West Viola Avenue, and West Prasch Avenue from 20th Avenue South to
22nd Avenue South by grading, ballasting, surfacing and constructing concrete curbs and
gutters together with the necessary drainage features.
The district to be served by and assessed for the above described
improvement is situate in Yakima County, Washington, and described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at a point on the south line of Nob Hill Boulevard
midway between 21st Avenue South and 20th Avenue South; thence
southerly and parallel with 21st Avenue South to a point midway
between Nob Hill Boulevard and West Prasch Avenue; thence east-
erly and parallel with West Prasch Avenue to 20th Avenue South;
thence southerly along 20th Avenue South to a point midway be-
tween West Prasch Avenue and West Viola Avenue; thence westerly
and parallel with West Prasch Avenue to a point midway between
20th. Avenue South and 21st Avenue South; thence southerly and
parallel with 21st Avenue South to West Viola Avenue; thence
westerly along West Viola Avenue to a point midway between 21st
Avenue South and 22nd Avenue South; thence northerly and parallel
with 22nd Avenue South to a point midway between West Viola
Avenue and West Prasch Avenue; thence westerly and parallel with
West Prasch Avenue to 22nd Avenue South; thence northerly along
22nd Avenue South to a point midway between West Prasch Avenue
and Nob Hill Boulevard; thence easterly and parallel with West
Prasch Avenue to a point midway between 22nd Avenue South and

21st Avenue South; thence northerly and parallel with 21st Aven
South to Nob Hill Boulevard; thence easterly along Nob Hill
Boulevard to the point of beginning.
All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improve-
ment are hereby notified to appear and present such objections, if any, at a meeting of
the City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima,
Yakima.County, Washington, at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m. on Monday, the 25th day of
July, 1955; which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters relati
to said proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the method of
payment for said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due notice
of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.
All costs and expenses in connection with the proposed construc-
tion of said improvement, including the engineering, inspection, advertising, publication
of notices and all other expenses incident thereto, shall be levied and assessed against
all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by law and as
above described, and the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the City
Commission at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data and
other information required by law to be by him submitted, and all of said improvements
are to be constructed in full accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepar-
ed by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk.

City Clerk to execute and deliver to Yakima - Tieton Irrigation District an irrigation
water system construction and maintenance permit for an irrigation water line as an ex-
tension to the "Uplands Irrigation System" be adopted as read: carried, Burns, Huza and
Huey voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -125$9 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF.YAKIMA:
That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directe<
to execute: and deliver to. Yakima - Tieton Irrigation District an irrigation water system
construction and maintenance permit for an irrigation water line as an extension to the
Uplands Irrigation System" in and along the East side of Crescent Hill Drive, which is
40th Avenue North, extending from Mavis Avenue to the South side of Summitview Avenue;
and also a pipe line-crossing Summitview Avenue at a point 674 feet West of the center
line of Crescent Hill Drive, within the City of .Yakima, subject to the terms and condi-
tions therein stated, a copy thereof being attached hereto and incorporated by reference
herein.

Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that Resolution No. C -1259, reinstating the office of
Superintendent of Streets and appointing George Timpke as such Superintendent at a
salary of $5400.00; said position having heretofore been included in the 1955 budget, be
adopted as read: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -1259, WHEREAS, there has been included in the budget of the pity of
Yakima for the year 1955, an item of $5400.00 as salary of the Superintendent of Streets.

WHEREAS, this position is unfilled at the present time, and it is
desired that George W. Timke, Street Foreman, be promoted to the position of Superinten-
dent of Streets; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That beginning July 1, 1955, George W. Timke shall be and hereby
is promoted from his present position as Street Foreman to the position of Superintendent
of Streets at an annual salary of :5400.00 as provided in the 1955 budget of the City of
Yakima.
