HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/27/1955 Business Meeting5 JUNE 27, 1955 The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and Huey present on roll call The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, June 20th, 1955, were approved as read. This being the time'for the hearing on Resolution No. C -124$, providing for the construc- tion of curbs and gutters on Thornton Lane, and other streets in the vicinity thereof, and there being objections from property owners residing in said district; it was MOVED by Huey, seconded by Huza that the hearing be continued until Tuesday, July 5th, 1955 at 10 o'clock a.m.: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. This being the time for the hearing on the annexation of the E2 of the SW71; of the NW4 of Section 22 -13 -18 E.W.M, and there being no objections in writing or otherwise to said annexation or any part thereof; it was moved by Huza, seconded by Huey that Ordinance No. B -1706, annexing said property, and every part thereof, be passed as read: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -1706, . AN ORDINANCE providing for the annexation by the City of Yakima, Washington, of certain property contiguous-.to the City of Yakima, Washington. Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that Resolution No. C -1256, being a resolution of inten- tion to improve Swan Avenue from 15th Avenue North to 16th Avenue North and east side of 16th Avenue North from Cherry Ave. to Fruitvale Blvd, by grading gallastin g, surfacing and constructing concrete curbs and gutters, and fixing the date of hearing thereon for Monday, July 18, 1955, at 10 o'clock A.M.,be adopted as read: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. C -12569 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: That it is.its intention to improve Swan Avenue from 15th Avenue North to 16th Avenue North and the east side of 16th Avenue North from Cherry Avenue to Fruitvale Boulevard by grading, ballasting, surfacing and constructing concrete curbs and gutters. The district to be served by and assessed for the above describ improvement is situate in Yakima County, Washington, and described as follows, to-wit: Beginning at the intersection of the east line of 16th Avenue North with the south line of Fruitvale Boulevard; thence east- erly along said south line of Fruitvale Boulevard a distance of 147 feet; thence southerly and parallel with 16th Avenue North to a point 150 feet north of Swan Avenue; thence easterly and parallel with Swan Avenue to 15th Avenue North; thence southerly along 15th Avenue North to a point 142.7 feet south of Swan Ave; thence westerly and parallel with Swan Avenue to a point 147 feet east of 16th Avenue North; thence southerly and parallel with 16th Avenue North to the westerly right-of-way line -=of the Pacific Power and Light Co.'s Wasteway; thence southwesterly along said right -of -way line to the east line of 16th Avenue North; thence northerly along said east line to the point of beginning. All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improvement are hereby notified to appear and present such objections, if any, at a meeting of the City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima, Yakima County, Washington, at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m. on Monday, the 18th day of July, 1955; which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters relating to said proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the method of payment for said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due notice of said hear- ing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement. All costs and expenses in connection with the proposed construc- tion of said improvement, including the engineering, inspection, advertising, publicatio of notices and all other expenses incident thereto, shall be levied and assessed against all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by law and as above described; except that the total cost of improving Swan Avenue is to be borne by the property in the proposed district. The property on 16th Avenue North is to be asses ed for the cost of the curb and gutter, plus a proportionate share of the overhead ex- pense. The cost of grading, ballasting, and surfacing on 16th Avenue North together with the balance of the overhead expense is to be borne by the City of Yakima. The City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the City Commission at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data and other information required by law to be by him submitted, and all of said improvements are to be constructed in full accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepare by the Gity Engineer and filed with the City Clerk.
