The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and Huey
present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Tuesday, May 31, 1955 and adjourned meeting thereo
were approved as read.
The following bids were received for paving the alleys in Blocks 28 and 351 in L.I.D. No
805; Columbia Asphalt Paving Company, $2,292.80; Lone Pine Paving Company, $2,490.00.
It was MOVED by Huza, seconded by Huey that the bid of Columbia Paving Company in the
sum of $2,292.$0.be accepted as the lowest and best bid and the Mayor and City Clerk
instructed to execute a contract on behalf of the.City of Yakima for doing said work up-
on the filing of the proper bond:.' carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call
The following bids were received for constructing concrete curbs and gutters on Glacier
Way, L.I.D. No. 808: De Blasio Bros., $54,355.68, said bid being the only one being re-
ceived. It was MOVED by Huza, seconded by Burns that said bid be accepted and the Mayor
and City Clerk authorized to execute a contract on.behalf of the City of Yakima for doin
said work upon the filing of the proper bond as required by law: carried, Burns and Huz
voting aye on roll call. Huey not voting.
An ordinance providing for the expenditure of funds not budgeted for the purchase of Lot
262, Pomona Heights, Division No. 14, in the sum of $100.41 and the further sum of
$1,319.74 for the purchase of Lots 257, 258, 259, 260, 261, 263, 2649 266 and all except
the North 400 feet of Lots 268, 269 and 270 Pomona Heights, Division 14, which funds
could not have been forseen at the- time of the passage of the, 1955 budget, was read in
full by the City Clerk and ordered laid on the table for one week: carried, Burns, Huza
and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Burns, seconded by Huza that the City Attorney is hereby authorized and instruct
ed to prepare a resolution approving the modification agreement between Darrel V.
Underwood, first party, James A. Sellers, second party and City of Yakima as the third
party, relative to a lease heretofore entered into with said Underwood for a portion of
property situated at the Municipal Airport: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on
roll call.
Moved by Burns, seconded by Huza that the report of the Investment Committee for invest-
ments made during the month of May 1955, be approved as follows:

This being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. C -1243, providing for the construc-
tion of an irrigation district in the Rolling Green Addition, L.I.D. No. 809, and there
being no objections in writing or otherwise to said improvement or any part thereof, it
was Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns that Ordinance No. B -1697, creating L.I.D. No. 809
be passed as read: carried,_Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1697, AN ORDINANCE providing for the improvement of certain property by
constructing a pipe sewer with the necessary wye branches, extensions, manhole, flush
tank, and water connection; establishing a Local Improvement District, providing for the
method of payment therefor, and creating a special fund.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns that Resolution No. C -1247, transferring the sum of
$100.00 from Purchase of Water Stock in the Irrigation Department,to Truck Replacements
in said department, be adopted as read: 'carried, Burns, Huza and Huey-voting aye on roll
call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -1247, WHEREAS, the duly adopted, final, 1955 budget of the City of
Yakima contained an item of "Purchase of water stock, $750.00" and "Truck replacement
$1500.00 ", both of same being capital outlay items for the city Irrigation Department;

and it now appears that an unforeseen emergency exists and that it will be necessary to
expend the sum of $1600.00 for truck replacement; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY_ THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That the sum of $100.00 of the sum of $750.00 being-an item in
the 1955 budget of the _City of..,Yakima for.purchase of water stock in the city Irrigation
Department budget, is hereby transferred to. and may be used as an additional sum for
truck replacement for said Irrigation. Department in addition to the budgeted amount of
$1500.00 leaving the sum of $650.00_f.or the.purchas.e of water stock for said,city
Irrigation Department for 1955.

tion to improve Thornton Lane from.Buwalda..Lane.to North 4th Street by grading, ballasti
surfacint and constructing conc.r.ete.. curbs... and... gutters., :.and fixing the date of hearing as
of Monday, June 27, 1955,- be..adop.ted- as.read.: carried,.Burns, Huza and Huey-voting aye
on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -124$, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY-OF YAKIMA :
That it is its..intention to improve Thornton Lane from Buwalda
Lane to North 4th Street'-by grading,..ballasting, surfacing and constructing concrete
curbs and gutters.
The distri.c.t.to.be.served by and assessed for the above described
improvement is situate in Yakima County,..Washington, and described as follows:
Beginning.at a point on the west line of North 4th Street,
140 feet South of the South line of Thornton Lane; thence
westerly and parallel with Thornton Lane to the east line
of Buwalda Lane; thence northerly along said East line to
a point 140 feet North of the North line of Thornton Lane;
thence easterly and parallel with Thornton Lane to the West
line of North 4th Street; thence southerly along said West
line to the point of beginning. Said District to include
Lots 1 to 26 inclusive, of Thornton's Addition, unrecorded.
All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improvement
are hereby notified to appear and present such objections, if an y,'at a meeting of the
City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima, Yakima
County, Washington, at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m. on Monday the 27th day of June, 1955;
which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters relating to said
proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the method of payment of
said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due notice of said hear-
ing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.
All costs and expenses in connection with the proposed construc-
tion of said improvement, including the engineering, inspection, advertising, publication
of notices and all other expenses incident thereto, shall be levied and assessed against
all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by law and as
above described:; and the City Engineer:. is hereby directed to submit to the City
Commission at. or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing all of the data and
other information required by law to be by him submitted; all of said improvements to be
constructed'in'full accordance with the.plans and specifications to be prepared by the
City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk.
