MAY 23 ; 1955
The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and Huey
present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, May 16, 1955 and adjourned meeting thereof,
were approved as read:
This being the time for receiving bids for the construction of tunas and ,gutters on 33rd
Avenue South from Nob Hill Blvd. to Nob Hill School and the bid of De Blasio Bro s. in the
sum of $5,744..65, being the only bid received; it was MOVED by Huza, seconded by Burns
that said bid be awarded -to them and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to enter into a
contract on behalf of the City of Yakima therefor upon the filing of the proper bond as
required by law: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
This being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. C -1241, providing for the paving of
the alley in Block 132, of the City of Yakima, and there being no objections in writing
or otherwise to said improvement, or any part thereof; it was MOVED by Huey, seconded by
Huza that inasmuch as a resolution has been passed providing for the paying of Block 133
of the said City of Yakima, the creation.: of a Local Improvement for Block 132 be postpom
ed until the hearing on Block 133, or June 13th, and at that time both alleys be con-
structed under one project: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that Resolution No. C -1244, being a resolution of inten-
tion to improve the alley in Block 133 by paving with asphaltic concrete placed on a
crushed rock base, and setting the time for hearing as of the 13th day of June 1955 at
10 otclock A. M. be adopted as read: carried, Burns, .Huza and Huey voting aye on roll
call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -1244, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That it is its intention to improve the alley in Block 133,
Yakima, by grading and paving with asphaltic concrete placed on a crushed rock base; all
of said improvements to be constructed in full accordance with the plans and specifica-
tions to be prepared by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk.
The district to be served and assessed for the above described
improvement will include the following, to -wit:
Lots 1 to 16 inclusive, of Block 133, Yakima, according to
the plat thereof recorded in the office of the Auditor of
Yakima County, Washington.
All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improvement
are hereby notified to appear and present such objection, if any, at a meeting of the
City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima, Yakima
County, Washington, at the hour of 10 otclock a.m., on Monday, the 13th day of June, 195f
which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters relating to said
proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the method of payment fo7
said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due notice of said hear-
ing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.
The costs and expenses of said improvement, including the engin-
eering, inspection, advertising, publication of notices and all other expenses incident
thereto, shall be levied and assessed against the property legally and properly assess-
able therefor as provided by law and as above described; and the City Engineer:'is hereby
directed to submit to the City Commission at or prior to the date fixed herein for said
hearing, all of the data and other information required by law be by him submitted.

An ordinance providing. for the expenditure of funds not budgeted for the Sanitation
Department in a sum of not to exceed $2,500.00 for the payment of the purchase price of a
Garbage Truck, be introduced and read in full by. the City Clerk and laid on the table for
one week before passage: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Burns, seconded by Huza that Ordinance No. B -1694, amending Section 1, of
Ordinance No. B -1$2, relative to providing the present hospitals in Yakima within the
city limits be designated as city emergency hospitals, ba passed as read: carried, Burns
Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1694, AN ORDINANCE amending Section 1 of Ordim nce No. B -182 entitled
"AN ORDINANCE relating to charity; providing for the treatment of indigent emergency
accident patients at the expense of the City of Yakima; prescribing rules and regulations
therefor; designating a City Emergency Hospital; declaring that a public emergency exists
and providing for the expenditure of certain sums of money to care for such emergency,
and fixing the estimated amount of such expenditure as near as may be "; and declaring an
emergency.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns that Ordinance No. B -1695 being a portion of the Traffi
Ordinance of the City of Yakima, and pertaining to parking in meter zones, be passed as
read: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1695, AN ORDINANCE amending subdivisions (h) and (k) of Section $$ of
Ordinance No. B -1526 entitled "AN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating traffic travel a
transportation and their incidents upon the streets and other ways open to the public;
prescribing the powers and duties of officers and others in relation thereto; defining
offenses; providing penalties, and repealing Ordinance No. B -131 and all amendments the
of and all other ordinances in so far as they are in conflict therewith, and declaring
emergency" as amended by Ordinance No. B -1546, and declaring an emergency.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Huey that the City of Yakima purchase the South 30 feet of
Lot 53, of St. Paul Acre Lots, for right of way purposes for the sum of $625.00; said
property to be purchased from the City Street fund: carried, Burns,.Huza and Huey voting
aye on roll call.

Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that upon the recommendation of Stevens & Thompson,
Consulting Engineers, all bids heretofore received on Monday, May 9th 1955, at 10 o'clock
A.M. for the construction of the Sewage Lift Station and Pipe Lines, are hereby rejected:
carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Huey, that the claim of Union Gap for proportionate share of
operation and maintenance of the Sewage Treatment plant at Union Gap, in the sum of
$218.01, for the month of April 1955,.be allowed: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting
aye on roll call.
Moved by Burns, seconded by Huza that we do now adjourn: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey
voting aye on roll call.
