The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and Huey
present on roll. call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, February 14th, 1955 and recessed meeting
thereof, were approved as read.

This being the time L'or receiving bids for the sale of a city lot belonging to the City
of Yakima situated on the. northwest corner of North 4th and Cherry Ave., and there being
no bids received for the purchase of said property, it was MOVED by Burns, seconded by
Huza that said property be placed on the open market:- carried, Burns, Huza and Huey
voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that the petition of Berkley B. Peterson and wife for
annexation to the City of Yakima for the south 70 feet of -the west 11�0 feet of the east
165 feet of the E12 of the 111- of the NV- of the NEI of Section 27-13-18 E.W.M, be acceptEd
and. the City attorney instructed to prepare the necessary papers therefor: carried,
Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that the petition o-fRichey Gilbert Company for annexa-
tion-,.to the City of Yakima of all of Blocks 3, 8 and 9 of "The Uplands" and also Lots 4
to 9 of Block 1 and Lots 4 to 9 of Block 2 of said "The Uplands" be accepted, and the
City Attorney instructed to prepare the necessary papers therefor: carried, Burns,

The City Engineer having reported the completion of the improvement in L.I.D. No. 795,
for the construction of an irrigation district of Sub-District No. 1 of 28th Ave., South
by the contractor, it was MOVED by Huey, seconded by Huza that said improvement be ac-
cepted and the City En,,�.ineer instructed to prepare an assessment roll for, said district
and the City Clerk aul-_.horized to give Notice of hearing on paid aid roll for Monday, the 14-t
day of March 1955, at 10 o'clock A.M.- carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll
call.
Moved by Huey seconded by Burns that Resolution No. C-1216, being a resolution of inten-
tion to improve the north. side of Mead Avenue frort, 5th Avenue Sout'h to Cornell Avenue
and the south side of Meade Avenue from 5th Avenue South to 6th Avenue Sough by grading

RESOLUTION NO. C,1216, BE IT RESOLVED 1"Y TF...F, CIT__Y CW,'�rl!SSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That it is its intention to improve the North side of Mead
Avenue from 5th Avenue South to Cornell Avenue and the South side of Mead Avenue from
5th Avenue Soutl- to 6th. Avenue South by grading, gallasting, surfacing and constructing
concrete curbs and, gutters.
' . The district to be served by and assessed for the above describel
improvement is situate in Yakitr,ia County, '��,�alslhlngton, and described as follows:
Beginning at a point on the 'West line of 5th Avenue South ,
midway between Mead Avenue and Lo,,.;an Avenue; thence southerly
said -

and King Street; thence westerly along a line midway between
Mead. Avenue- and Kin- Street to 6th Avenue South; thence northerl
along 6th Avenue South to Mead Ave-llue; thence westerly along

All persons who m-any desire to object to said proposed improvement
are hereby notified to appear and present such objections, if any, at a meeting of the
City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima, Yakima
County, Washington, at the houi- of 10 o?clock a.m. on Monday, the l4th day of March,
1955; which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters, relating to
said proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the method of pay-
ment for said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due notice of
said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.

c 'ion of notices, and all other expenses incident thereto, ahall be levied and assessed

against all of the property legally arid, properly assessable therefor as provided by law
and as above described; and the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the City
Commission at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, All of the data and
other information required I-,,y law to be by him, submitted; all of said improvements to be
constructed in full. accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepared by the
City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk.

Pro Tempore, be adopted as read: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
REDOLUTION NO. C-1217, A RESOLUTION relating to Police Judge Pro Tempore.
AAEREAS, on August 3, 1953 the City Commission of the Gity_Of
Yakima passed Ordinance No. B-1481 entitled "AN ORDINANCE relating to Police Judge Pro
Tempore, providing for the method of his appointment and fixing his compensation", and
WHEREAS, Thomas E. Grady, Jr., police or municipal judge of the
City of Yakima will encounter at various times during his term of office, situations in
which he will be unable to serve, or circumstances in which it will be inadvisable to
serve, and whereas such a situation has now arisen, there being before the said court a
matter involving a foiver client of the said Thomas E. Grady, Jr.;
NOW,TOEnEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Oity Commission of the City
of Yakima:
That NormAn R. Nasheq Jr. be ani hereby is appointed police or
municipal judge pro tempore to act as such during the absence or disqualification of the
said Thomas E. Grady, Jr. in regard to the matter hereinabove mentioned and now pending
before the said court and upon taking an oath of office as provided by the said
Ordinance, he shall have all of the powers and duties of a police or municipal judge pro
tempore and shall be compensated as provided by said Ordinance No. B-1481.
