The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, January 3, 1955, were approved as read. Mioved by Huey, seconded. by Burns that the bid of ,.ebb Tractor Company for one Cate.rpillai Bulldozer, completely equipped as per specifications in the sum of ;15,151.00, less trade -in of the sum of $Np,1�00..00, or a total of $10,741.00, be accented as the lowest and best bid, carried: Burns and Huey voting aye on roll call. Huza absent. The City Engineer having reported the completion of the Prasch Avenue Curb and Gutter district, said work is hereby accepted, and the City engineer instructed to prepare an assessment roll for the district a.nd. the City Clerk authorized to give notice of hearing on said assessment roll, by publication as required by law for Monday, the 31st day of January 1955, at 10 o'clock A.M., carried, Burns and Huey voting aye on roll call. Huza absent. The City Engineer havin:, reported the co- nipletion of the Westview Addition Sewer district, L.I.D. No. 791, by the contractor, said work is hereby accepted, and. the City Engineer instructed to prepare an assessment .roll for said district and the City Clerk authorized to -ive notice of hearing on said roll, for Monday, January,31st, 1955, at 10 o'clock A.M., carried, Burns, and Huey voting aye on roll call. Huza absent. This being the time for the hearing on the assessment roll in L.I.D. No.,77L�, providing for the construction of a sewer system in Lots 1 to 16 Biggins Addition, and there being no objections to said improvement, or any part thereof, it was Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that Ordinance No. B -1642, confirming said assessment roll and every part thereof be passed as read, carried: Burns and. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that the'Ci_ty Clerk is hereby authorized to advertise for bids as follows: For the purchase of two sedans or one sedan and one station wagon of Ford, Chevrolet or Plymouth type for the Fire department. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns that Resolution No. C- 1192, being a resolution of intention. to improve 17th Avenue North from Summitview Avenue to a. point approximately SL +1.4 feet North thereof by grading, ballasting; end constructing concrete curbs and ,utters, be adopted as read, carried: Burns: and Huey voting aye on roll call. Huza absent. RESOLUTION NO. C -1192, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: That it is its intention to improve 37th Avenue North from Summitview Avenue to a point approximately 841.4 feet North thereof by grading, ballast - ing, surfacing, and constructing concrete curbs and gutters. The district to be served by and assessed for the above describ- ed improvement is situate in Yakima County, I.:!ashing;ton, and described as follows Lots 1 to 16 inclusive of the Rice- Dibbert Addition to the City of Yakima, according to the recorded plat thereof now on file anti of record in the office of the Auditor of Yakima County, Wa_shing;to n. All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improve- ment are hereby notified to appear «nd pr. esent such objections, if any, at a meeting; of the City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima, Yakima. BURNS Mayor Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns that Resolution No. C -1193, providing for the necessary funds, to employ an all time bookkeeper for Tahoma Cemetery be adopted as read, carried: Burns and Huey voting aye on roll call. Huza absent. REBOLUTION NO. C -1193, 1ATHEREA:S, the 1955 budget of the Citv of Yakima with reference to Tahoma Cemetery contains the following salary item, namely: "Labor, 5 men C $1.60 234 days 14,976..0011; and it has subsequently been determined that it is necessary and advisable to use a portion of said fund for the employment of the salary of a full time bookkeeper to work in the office at said cemetery; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA• That the Commissioner of Public Works shall employ a full time bookkeeper to work in the office at the office at Tahoma Cemetery at a salary of $250.00 per month, commenc- ing January 1, 1955; and the sum of $3,000.00 may be transferred from said fund or item of $14;976.00 hereinabove mentioned and may be used to pay the salary of said bookkeeper during the year 1955; and the appropriate city officials are hereby authorized, empower- ed and directed to do any and all things necessary or proper for carrying out this resolution. BURNS Mayor Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns that Resolution No. C -1194, providing for certain land for the water department, be adopted as read, carried: Burns and Huey voting aye on roll call. Huza absent. RESOLUTION NO. C -1194, NHEREAS, in November, 1954, the City of Yakima paid the sum of $1,000.00 as partial payment of the purchase price of certain land in Yakima County, 11ashington, for the acquisition of additional facilities for the city water department; and the balance of the agreed purchase price thereof in the sum of $14,000.00 is now due and payable, the total purchase price being $15,000.00, and the sum of $10,000.00 for that purpose has been included in the 1955 budget; now, -therefore, BE IT RESOLVII-0 BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CI`T'Y OF YAKIMA• That the city treasurer is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to expend the sum of $14,000.00 for the payment of the balance of the purchase price of said property, the same being payable to the extent of $10,000.00 from the fund budgeted for land acquisition by the water department in the 1955 budget; and the balance thereof in the sum of $4,000.00 shall be paid out of the accumulated surplus fund of the city water department; and that the appropriate city officials are hereby authorized and directed forthwith to do any and all things necessary to complete said purchase transaction and acquire said property for said purpose. ORDINANCE NO. B -1644, AN ORDINANCE providing for the expenditure of funds not budgeted for the street department and police department, and declaring an emergency. Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that the City Clerk is hereby instructed-to advertise for the construction of South- interceptor sewer and drain for the City of Yakima, by publication as required by law: said bids to be received on Thursday, February 10th, 1955, at the hour of 3 o'clock P.M., carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
