OCTOBER 5th, '_953, 10 orclock
The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and Huey
present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, September 28th 1953, were approved as read.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza; that this being the time for receiving bids for paving
the alley from East Yakima Avenue to East Chestnut Street between 6th and 7th: streets,
L.I.D. No. 763, the following bid was received,
Lone Pine Paving Company $12115.50,
it being the only bid received and 12% higher than the Engineer's estimate; It was ord
ed that said bid be rejected and the improvement abandoned for the present, carried:
Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns, that this being the time for receiving bids for the -
purchase of a four -door sedan for the Police department, the following bid was received:
Burrows Motor Co. 1953 Ford Mainline Fordor Sedan $2,228.09, less
discount of $200.00, less Federal Tax $111.00
plus state sales tax .$58.53, less trade in
1952 Ford sedan 1,600.00, 1,852

The above bid being the only one received; It is ordered thas said bid in the sum of
$375.62 be accepted„ carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that the agreement heretofore existing between I. S.
Vaughn, and the City of Yakima for the right to salvage at<the City Dump, be and the same
is hereby cancelled,, as of October 1st, 1953, by mutual agreement, carried: Burns, Huza
and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to
enter into a contract on behalf of the City of Yakima with Ross Renecker, for salvage
value at the City dump; said contract to date from October 6th 1953, and to continue for
one year, at the rage of $100.00 per month, carried:- Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on
roll call.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns, that the following bids were received for printing
1000 copies of the Fire Prevention Code:

The bid of the Yakima Bindery & Printing Company in the sum of $251.65, was accepted as
the lowest and best bid, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns, that the report of the Investment Committee for invest-
ments purchased during the month of September 1953, be approved as follows:

Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that the petition of property owners residing in the
vicinity of the SE corner of North 6th Avenue and Willow Street protesting the change of
zoning from „B„. residence district to Business District is hereby granted and said
district is to be and remain a „B" residence district, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey
voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that there being no further protests from property owner
for the paving of North Naches Avenue from East "I" Street to East 11K" Street; It is
ordered that Ordinance No. R -1498, creating a local improvement district be passed as
read, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1498, AN ORDINANCE providing for the improvement of certain property by
grading, ballasting„ ;surfacing and constructing concrete curbs and gutters; establishing
a Local Improvement District, providing for the method of payment therefor, and creat-
ing a special fund.

Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that there being no further protests for the constructio
of a sewer system in the. Power House Road District; It is ordered that Ordinance No.
B =1499, creating a local improvement district be passed as read, carried: Burns, Huza
and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B' -1499, AN ORDINANCE providing for the improvement of certain property by
constructing pipe sewers with the necessary wye branches, manholes, flush tanks and water
connections therefor; establishing a Local: Improvement District, providing for the method
of payment therefor, and creating a special fund.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that the City Clerk is hereby instructed to give notice
to bidders, by publication, for the construction of curbs and gutters on North Naches
Avenue, L.I-.D. No. 764; said bids to be received on Monday, October 19th 1953, at 10:00
otclock A.M., carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that the City Clerk is hereby instructed to' give notice
to bidders, by publication, for the construction of.a sewer system on Power House Road
L.I.D. No. 765; said bids to be received on Monday, October 19th 1953, at 10 otclock
A.M.,. carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns, that this being the time for the hearing on the final
budget for the year 1954, said hearing is hereby Continued from day to day for the bene-
fit of property owners wishing to be heard.for or against said budget, or any part there-
of, until Friday, October 9th 1953, at 4:30 otclock P.M., carried: Burns, Huza and Huey
voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Burns, seconded by Huza, that we do now adjourn to meet Friday, October 9th,
1953, at 4:30 P.M., carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ADJOURNED MEETING, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9th, 1953, 4:30 p.m.
The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Burns and Commissioner Huza present
on roll call, Commissioner Huey absent.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns, that.the budget for the year 1954, having been hereto-
fore presented on Monday, October 5th 1953, for hearing by the property owners of the
City of Yakima, and said hearings having been adjourned from day to day, as required by
law, for a period of five days, and there being no objections in writing or otherwise to
said budget, or any part thereof; It'is ordered that Ordinance No. B -1500, fixing the
amount of the tax levies necessary to raise the amount of the estimated amount of the
expenditures for the ensuing year to be levied upon the real and personal property of
said city, be passed as read, carried: Burns and Huza voting-aye on roll call, Huey
absent.
ORDINANCE NO. B -15001 AN ORDINANCE fixing the amount of the tax levies necessary to raise
the amount of the estimated expenditures of the City-of Yakima, Washington, for the
ensuing year to be levied upon the real and personal property of said City.
Moved by Burns, seconded by Huza, that we do now adjourn, carried: Burns and Huza voting
aye on roll call, Huey absent.
