The minutes of the regular meeting of I'tonday, August 14, 1950, were approved as read. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns that this being; the time for the hearing on the petition for annexation of the Vk- of the NW4 of the S.W.I of Sec 13 -13 -18 E.W.M., said property being pounded on the South by Fruitvale Blvd,on the Nest by 16th Avenue North, on the North by North Avenue and on the east by 15th Avenue North and there being no objections in writing or otherwise to said annexation or any part thereof; It is ordered that Ordinance No. B -1165 annexing said property . to the City of Yakima be ?gassed as read: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -1165, providing for the annexation by the 'City of Yakima, Washington, of certain property contiguous to the present boundaries of said City. Moved by Carpenter, seconded by Burns that this being the time for receiving bids on the 4th Avenue 'Curb and Gutter District, L.I.D. No. 695, the following were received.: Joe Brandt X7,252.55, Columbia Asphalt Paving Co. X7,452.30, and G. G. Teskey 6,709.12. The bid of G. G. Teskey was accepted as the lowest and best bid, and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City of Yakima for doing said work upon .filing oI' the proper bond as required by law: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns that this being the time for receiving bids on the Cornell Avenue Curb and Gutter District, L.I.D. 696, the following were received: Joe Brandt t13,895.70,, Columbia Asphalt Paving Co. $14,263.90 and G. G. Teskey $`12,959.8( The bid of G. G. Teskey in the sum of ,'$12,959.86 was accepted as the lowest and best bid and the Mayor and 'City Clerk authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City of Yakima for doing; said work upon filing of the proper bond as required by law: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting; aye on roll call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Carpenter that this being the time for receiving bids on the 27th Avenue South Curb and Gutter District in L.I .'D-. No. 699, the followi ng were received: Joe Brandt $2,328.04 and Columbia Asphalt Paving Co. $2,083.62. 083.62. The bid of Columbia Asphalt Paving Co. being the lowest and best bid, said contract was awarded to them and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City or' Yakima upon_ riling the proper bond as required by law: carried .Bu_^ns, Huey and Carpenter voting aye on .roll call. ESOLUTION NO. C -9271 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY C0IUIISSION OF THE CITY OF YA= -,1A, 0JTN: That it is its intention to improve Broadway Avenue from lNest Pine Street to Lenox Avenue, by grading, ballasting, surfacing and constructing concrete curbs and gutters from Stewart Street to Lenox Avenue; all of said improvements to be constructed in full accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepared by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk. The district to be served by and assessed for the above described improvement is situate in Yakima County, 1hashington, and described as follows, to -wit: Beginning at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and ?Tdest Pine Street;'thence Easterly along 07est Pine Street to the Northeast corner of Block 235, Lund's Addition; thence Southeasterly and Southerly parallel with Broadway Avenue to Lenox Avenue; thence Westerly along Lenox Avenue to a point 120 feet West of the West line of Broadway Avenue; thence Northerly and Northeasterly parallel with ?roadway Avenue to 'Nest Pine Street; thence Easterly along ?guest Pine Street to the point of beginning. All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improvement are hereby notified to appear and present such objections, if any, at a meeting of the City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima, Yakima County, Guashington, at the hour of 10 o'clock A.M., on Monday, the 18th day of Septem- ber, 1950; which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters re- lating to said proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the method of payment for said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due notice of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement. The cost and expense of said improvement, including the cost of acquiring right of way easements, engineering, surveying, advertising, publication of notices, and all other expenses incident thereto, shall be borne by and assessed against all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by law and as above described; and the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the City Commission at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data and other information required by law to be by him submitted. ADJOURNED MEETING; THURSDAY, AUGUST 24, 1950 The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huey and Carpenter present on roll call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns that this being the time for receiving bids on a chlorinating machine for the Water Dept.,following were received: Item #11 Food Machinery and Chemical Corp. $3,799.18 and rZankin Equipment Co. $3,826.45. Bid was awarded to Rankin Equipment Co. Item #21 Picatti Brothers "A" for 100 H.P. Motor 4772.50, "B" for 125 H.P. Motor $803.40. Bid was awarded on "B" for 125 H.P. Motor for §803.409 to Picatti Bros. Item #3, Builders- Providence Inc. (Supervise installation') $1,622.25 and Wallace & Tiernan 'Co. (Includes installation) ;1,931.25. Bid was awarded to Wallace & Tiernan Cos carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Burns, seconded by Huey that at the present time the City Commission feels that permit =sion should not be granted for public parking spaces on South First Street; Therefore, the application of the National Bank of Commerce for certain spaces is hereby denied: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Carpenter, seconded by Huey that the City Attorney is hereby authorized and instructed to prepare an ordinance relative to the licensing of Jute Boxes in the City of Yakima and fixing said license at 5.00 per instrument: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Carpenter, seconded by Huey that the City Attorney is hereby authorized and instructed to prepare a resolution authorizing the City of Yakima to purchase the Mausoleum and surrounding property at Tahoma Cemetery and such other matters as set forth in said contract: carried Burns, 'Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
