HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/31/1950 Business Meeting1 L� July 31. 19 50 The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Carpenter and Huey present on roll call. The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, July 24, 1956,,,-and adjourned meeting thereof, were approved as read. Moved by huey, seconded by Carpenter that this being the time for receiving bids for the construction of the 34th Avenue Sewer System, L.I.D. 697, the following were received: J. M. DeBlasio $6,562.00; Joe Brandt $8,355.00; Kimball & Klimpel $7,361.20, G. G. Teskey $8,728.00. The bid of J. M. DeBlasio, in the sum of $6,562.00 was accepted as the lowest and best bid, and the .Mayor and City :Clerk authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of the .City of Yakima for doing said work, upon filing of the proper bond as required by law: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Carpenter, seconded by Burns that this being the time for ,receiving bids for a car for the Police Dept, final award of said bids is hereby postponed until a later date carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Carpenter that this being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. C -916 providing for the paving of alleys in Blocks 112, 148, 411, etc, and there being insufficient protest by property owners to said improvement or any part thereof; It is ordered that Ordinance No. B -1157 creating Local Improvement District No. 700, be passed as read: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -1157, providing for the improvement of the alleys in Blocks 112, Yakima 148, Eastern Addition; 411, Capitol Addition; 13, 14 and 15, I,,Iilroyls Plat; between 25th Avenue South and 26th Avenue South: from Tieton Drive to Nest Walnut Street and the alley immediately west of the east half of Lot 7-of Allan's Acre Tracts; by grading and paving the same with asphaltic concrete placed on a gravel base; establishing a Local Improvement District, providing for the method of payment therefor, and creating a special fund. Moved by Burns,.seconded by Huey that the City Attorney is hereby instructed to prepare an ordinance in compliance with the recommendations of the City Planning - Commission relative to zoning: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns that the City Attorney is hereby instructed to prepare an ordinance relative to the request of the Union Pacific Railroad Co., to abandon their right of way across Mead Avenue: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Huey,. seconded by Burns that this being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. C -917 providing for the construction of curbs and gutters on 27th Avenue North from.E'nglewood Avenue to Wally Lane, and there being insufficient protest by property owners to said improvement or any part thereof; It is ordered that Ordinance No. B- 11581 creating L.I.D. No. 701 be passed as read: carried..Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -1158, providing for the improvement of certain property by grading, ballasting, surfacing and constructing concrete curbs and gutters; establishing a Local Improvement District, providing for the method of payment therefor, and creating a special fund.
