The�City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Carpenter
and Huey present on roll call.
The minutes of the r.egu]a.r meeting of Monday, June 5, 1950, were approved as read.
Moved by Carpenter, seconded by Burns that this being the time for the hearing on the
annexation of the property bounded on the north by W. Walnut Street, on the east.by
South Hillcrest, on the south by Tieton -Drive and on the west by South Glenn Drive,
and after listening to arguments for and against said proposition; It was ordered
that said matter,-be taken under advisement: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting
aye on roll .calla
Moved by Huey, seconded by Carpenter -that this being the time for the hearing on the
petition of property owners for opening Swan Avenue between Clark Avenue and 14th
Avenue North and putting a crossing over the P.P. & L. (Canal; It was ordered that
further investigation was necessary, and said matter be taken under advisement at this
time: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by (Carpenter, seconded by Burns that an ordinance providing for the sum of
$1,000.00 for a preliminary engineering survey for the contemplated over head railroad
pass to be located in the City of Yakima at a future date, which sum was not provided
for in the 1950 budget, is hereby introduced, and ordered laid on the table for one
week: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns that the City Engineer having reported the completion
of the North Hillcrest Avenue Curb and Gutter District, and filed the assessment roll
therefore with the City Treasurer, L.I.D. No. 682, said report is hereby accepted, and
the City Clerk instructed to give notice of hearing on the assessment roll for
Monday, July 10, 1950, at 10 ofclock A.M: carried Burns, 'Carpenter and Huey voting
aye on roll call.
Moved by Burns, seconded by Carpenter that we do now adjourn: carried Burns, Duey
and Carpenter voting aye on roll call.

The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Carpenter
and Huey present on roll call.
The minutes of the meeting of Monday, June 12, 1950, were approved as read.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns that this being the time for the hearing on Resolution
No. C -911, providing for the construction of curbs and gutters and surfacing Viola
Avenue from Broadway to Seventh Avenue South and Fourth Avenue from Viola to Mead
Avenue and there being a petition of remonstrance by property owners from Logan Avenue
to Mead, and it being deemed advisable to further investigate said improvement; It is
ordered that said matter be taken under advisement at this time: carried Burns, Huey
and Carpenter voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns that this being the time for receiving bids for 10,000
feet of 3/4" copper tubing and 1;000 'eet of 1" copper tubing, the bid-of Hugh G.
Purcell Co.. .in the sum of $2,926.80 being the lowest and best bid, said bid was
awarded to said company, and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to enter into a
contract with said company upon the filing of the proper bond therefor: carried Burns,
Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Burns, seconded by Carpenter that final decision on the petition for annexa-
tion of certain property bounded on the east by South Hillerest etc, and also on the'
petition for opening Swan Avenue from Clark Avenue to 14th Avenue North, be postponed
to a later date: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Carpenter, seconded by Burns that Ordinance No. B -1148 providing for the
sum of $1,000.00 not appropriated in the 1950 budget for preliminary - engineering
survey and planning work for a railroad overhead pass in the City of Yakima, be
passed as read: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1148, providing for the expenditure of funds not provided for in the
1950 budget, for the purpose of paying preliminary engineering expenses in connection
with the survey and plans for a railroad overpass, and declaring an emergency.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Carpenter that Resolution No. C -912, being a resolution
of intention to improve Cornell. Avenue from Lenox Avenue to Mead Avenue, be approved
as read: carried Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -9125 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY 'COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA, VIN:
That it is its intention to iipprove<Cornell Avenue from Lenox
Avenue to Mead Avenue by grading, ballasting, surfacing and constructing concrete
curbs and gutters; all of said improvements to be constructed in full accordance with
the plans and specifications to be prepared by the City Engineer and filed with the
City Clerk.
The district to be served by and assessed for the above described
improvement is situate in Yakima County, Washington, and described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning on the South line of Lenox Avenue, midway
between Cornell Avenue and Sixth Avenue South; thence
Southerly along a line midway between Cornell Avenue and
Sixth Avenue South to Mead Avenue; thence Westerly along
Mead Avenue to a point midway between Cornell Avenue and
Seventh Avenue South; thence Northerly along a line
midway between Cornell Avenue and Seventh Avenue South
to Lenox Avenue; thence Easterly along Lenox Avenue to
the point of beginning.
All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improve-
ment are hereby notified to appear and present such objections, if any, at a meeting
of the City l C ommission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima,
Yakima County, Washington, at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m., on Monday, the 10th day of
July, 1950, which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters
relating to said proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the
method of payment for said improvement; and the City ,Clerk is hereby directed to give
due notice of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.
The cost and expense of said improvement, including the cost of
acquiring right of way easements, engineering, surveying, advertising, publication of
notices, and all other expenses incident thereto, shall be borne by and assessed
against all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by
law and as above described; and the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the
City Commission at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data
and other information required by law to be by him submitted.
