The .City .'Commission met in regular. session, Mayor Buck and (Commissioners Bishop and
Clark present on roll calla
The minutes of the regular meeting of. Monday, August 29, 1949, were approved as read.
Moved by Bishop,' seconded by Clark that this being the time for receiving bids for a
4 door sedan for the Police Dept .,'the following were received: Burrows Motor Co.
$1722.60, 'Cormier Chevrolet (Co. 1179.5.34. The bid of Burrows Motor Co. was accepted as
the lowest and best bid: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark-voting aye on roll call.
Moved by (Clark, seconded by Buck that the +City Engineer having filed the assessment rol:
in L -I-.D. No. 649, with the City Treasurer, the City Clerk is hereby instructed to give
notice of hearing on said roll for Monday, October 3, 1949, at 10 o'clock A.M: carried
'Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that the City Engineer having filed the assessment
in L.I.D. No. 672, with the City Treasurer, the !City Clerk is hereby authorized to give
notice of hearing on said roll for Monday, October 3, 1949, at 10 of clock A.M: carried
Buck, Bishop and Clark_ voting aye on roll calla
Moved by Clark, seconded by Buck, that this being the time for receiving bids for pavin
29th Avenue North from Summitview to Lincoln, L.I.D. No. 678, the following were re-
ceived: Perry Hayes, $7577.40; J.M. DeBlasio, $7349.15; Gallagher & Brandt,' $6585.55_.
The bid of Gallagher and Brandt was accepted as the lowest and best bid and the Mayor
and City Clerk authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of the City of Yakima up-
on filing of the proper bond carried Buck, Bishop and Clark votingaye on roll call.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Buck that the City Engineer having reported the completion
of. the impr.ovement-. in L.H.D. No. 669, providing for the paving of the alley in Block 4,
Elliott Heights Addition,-said work is hereby accepted and the (City Engineer authorized
to prepare an assessment roll therefor: carried Buck, Bishop, and Clark voting aye on
roll call.
The Preliminary Budget for estimates of expenses and receipts for the year 1950, was
presented by the Finance ,Commissioner, for consideration and passage.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Buck that this being the time for the hearing on the-assess-
ment roll in L.I.D. No. 646 and there being no objections in writing or otherwise to
said assessment roll or any part thereof; -It is ordered that Ordinance No. B -1041 con-
firming said assessment roll and every part thereof be passed as read: carried Buck,
Bishop and (Clark voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1041, confirming the assessment roll covering Local Improvement Dis-
trict No. 646 as created and established by Ordinance No. B -866 of the Ordinances of the
City of Yakima.
RESOLUTION NO. C -857,, WHEREAS, E. A. Yergen and Elizabeth Yergen, husband and wife,
have heretofore and on June 13, 1949 filed their duly verified claim against the City
of Yakima for damages alleged to have been suffered as the result of alleged negligence
by the employees or agents of the City of Yakima in damaging or cutting down a prune
tree owned by said claimants on premises within the City of Yakima, said claim being
in the amount of $450.00; and
WHEREAS, said claimants have agreed to compromise and settle
said claim upon the payment to them of the sum of $100.00, and believing it to be for
the best interests of the City of Yakima to accept such offer of compromise;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION:
That the claim of the said E. A. Yergen and Elizabeth Yergen,
husband and wife, shall be compromised upon their offer of settlement in the sum of
$ 100_.00,. and the City Treasurer is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to draw a
warrant upon the proper fund of the City of Yakima in favor of said claimants in the
sum of $100:00 in full and complete satisfaction thereof.

Moved by (Clark, seconded by Buck, that Resolution No. C -857 be adopted as read:
carried Buck, Bishop and 'Clark voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -858, WHEREAS, the City Commission has been requested to prohibit
parking of automobiles and other vehicles along the North side of Lenox Avenue between
14th Avenue and 16th Avenue and on both sides of 16th Avenue between Lenox Avenue and
Washington Street, and the City Commission.has carefully considered said request and
believing that the continued parking of vehicles along said streets _constitutes a
serious t raf fi c ,hazard;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE !CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY. OF YAKIMA, WASHINGTON:
. That parking of all vehicles along the North side of Lenox Ave-
nue between 14th Avenue and 16th Avenue and along both sides of 16th Avenue between
Lenox Avenue and Washington Street shall be prohibited.
This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon the erection
of adequate signs notifying the public that parking is prohibited along said Streets
at the places herein designated.

RESOLUTION NO.-C-859., BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA, JUN:
That it is its intention to improve North Hillcrest Avenue from
Summitview Avenue to Lincoln Avenue in the City of Yakima by constructing concrete curbs
and gutters along said Avenue and by grading, ballasting and surfacing the same, -all of
said improvement to be constructed in full accordance with the plans and specifications
to be prepared by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk.
The district to be served by and assessed for the above described
improvement is situate in Yakima County, Washington and described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the east line of
North Hillcrest Avenue with the north line of Summitview
Avenue; thence easterly along the north line of Summit-
view Avenue a distance of 118 feet; thence northerly and
parallel with North Hillcrest Avenue to Lincoln Avenue;
thence westerly along Lincoln Avenue a distance of 283
feet to a point 120 feet west of the westerly line of
North Hillcrest-Avenue; thence southerly and parallel
with said westerly line to the north line of Summitview
Avenue; thence easterly along said north line to point
of .beginning.
All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improve-
ment are hereby notified to appear and present such objections, if any, at a meeting of
the City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima,
Yakima County, Washington, 'at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m., on Monday, the 26th day of
September, 1949, which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters
relating to said proposed improvement or objections thereto and for determining the
method of payment for said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give
due notice of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.
The cost and expense" of said improvement, including the cost of
acquiring right of way easements, engineering, surveying, advertising, publication of
notices, and all other expenses incident thereto shall be borne by and assessed against
all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor, as provided by law and as
above described; and the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the City 'Commis-
sion at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data and other
information required by law to be by him submitted.

RESOLUTION NO. C -860, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA, WN:
That it is its intention to improve the alleys between South 4th
Street and Naches Avenue from +Chestnut to Walnut Street; between South Naches Avenue
and South 6th Street between East Yakima.Avenue and Chestnut Street; and between North
7th Street and North 8th Street from East "A" Street to East Yakima Avenue, by grading
and paving the same with asphaltic concrete placed on a gravel base, all of said im-
provements to be constructed in full accordance with the plans and specifications to be
prepared by the City.Engineer and filed with the City Clerk,
The district to be served by and assessed for the above described
improvements is described as follows, to -wit:
Lots 1 to 16 inclusive, Block 92, Town of North
Yakima, now Yakima;
Lots 1 to 16 inclusive, Block 111, Town of North
Yakima, now Yakima, and Huson's Addition to
Yakima; and
Lots 1 to 16 inclusive, Block 150, Huson's
Addition to Yakima.
All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improve-
ment are hereby notified to appear and present such objection, if any, at a meeting of
