June 13.-1949
The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Buck and Commissioners Bishop and
Clark present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, June 6, 1949, were approved as read.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that hearing on Resolution No. C -833 for vacation of
part of 5th Avenue, between Viola - Street and Logan be again continued to Monday, June
20, 1949: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that Ordinance No. B -1019 granting to the N.Po Ry. Co.
the right to construct a spur track on the southerly line of Pine - Street.etc.., be passed
as read: carried Buck, Bishop and {Clark voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B- 1019, granting to the Northern Pacific Railway ,Company, a corporation
of the State of Wisconsin, and to.its successors and assigns, the right, privilege and
authority to construct, maintain and operate a certain railroad track in the City of
Yakima, Yakima County, Washington.
Moved by Clark, •seconded by Buck that Resolution No. C -841 be adopted as read: carried
Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -841; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA, WN.:
That it is its intention to.improve Twenty -Third Avenue South
from Bonnie Doone Avenue north 644.4 feet in the City of Yakima by constructing concrete
curbs and gutters along said Avenue and by grading, ballasting and surfacing the same,
all of said improvement to be constructed in full accordance with the plans and specifi-
cations to be prepared by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk.
The district to be served by and assessed for the above described
improvement is situate in Yakima County, Washington and described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the north line of
Bonnie Doone Avenue and the west line of Twenty-
Third Avenue South; thence west along the north
line of Bonnie Doone 146.5 feet; thence north and
parallel-With the west line of Twenty -Third Avenue .
South 644.4 feet; thence east to a point 146.5 feet
east of the east line of Twenty -Third Avenue South;
thence south to a point on the north line of Bonnie
Doone Avenue 141.0 feet east of the east line of
Twenty -Third Avenue South; thence west along the
north "line of Bonnie Doone Avenue to place of-
beginning.
All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improvement
are hereby notified to appear and present such objections, if any, at a meeting of the.
.City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima, Yakima
County, Washington, at the hour of 10 o'clock A.M., on Tuesday, the 5th day of July,
1949, which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters relating to
said proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the method of pay-
ment for said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due notice of
said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.
The cost and expense of said improvement, including the cost of
acquiring right of way easements, engineering, surveying, advertising, publication of
notices, and all other expenses incident thereto,'shall be borne by and assessed against
all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by law and as
above described;- and the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the City Commis-
sion at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data and other
information required by law to be by him submitted.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY !COMMISSION this 13th day of June, 1949.

Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that Resolution No. C-842 be adopted as read:
carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -842, WHEREAS, in.- connection with Local Improvement- District No. 662
of the 'City of Yakima it is necessary to provide six -inch cast iron pipe immediately on
account of work being done on curbs and gutters in the territory covered by the said
local improvement district, and the City of Yakima has no supply of pipe on hand; and
- WHEREAS; it will be to the best interests of the (City to- authoriz(
purchase of such water pipe in the open market;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION of Yakima,
Washington, that an emergency exists with reference to the purchase of said six -inch
water pipe and therefore the Purchasing Agent of the City be and he is hereby authorized
to purchase approximately 1656 feet of six -inch cast iron water pipe in the open market
at a cost of not to exceed $3496.64, including sales tax.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION, signed and approved this 13th
