The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, March 21, .1949, were approved as read.. ORDINANCE NO. B -994,. providing for the improvement of property in the City of Yakima, Washington, by constructing an.irrigation system to serve various lots and tracts of land; establishing a local improvement district; providing for.the method of payment therefor, and creating a special fund.. Moved by °Clark, seconded by Bishop that an account of insufficient protest against the construction of an irrigation system heretofore provided for by Resolution No.-C -818, and after taking the matter under advisement; It is ordered that Ordinance No. B -994 creating a local improvement district for said work be passed as read: carried'Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that this being the time for the hearing on Resolu- tion No. -C -819 providing for the construction of a domestic.water system in Village Heights Addition and there being insufficient protest to said work, or any part thereof; It is ordered that Ordinance No. B -995 creating a local improvement district be created for said construction be passed as read: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -995, providing for the improvement_ of property in the City of Yakima, Washington by the construction of a domestic water system; establishing ,a Local Improve- ment District; providing for the method of ,payment therefor and creating a special fund. ORDINANCE NO. B -996, providing for the purchase of materials and expenditure of..funds not provided .:for_ in the 1949 Budget, ,.and declaring an emergency.. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that Ordinance No. B -996 providing for funds to pur- chase supplies for the Parking Meter Dept, not heretofore provided-for in the .1949 budget, be passed as read: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye-on roll call. ORDINANcCE NO. B -997, amending Ordinance No. B -131 entitled: "AN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating traffic, travel and transportation and their incidents upon the streets and other ways open to the public; prescribing the powers and duties of officers and others in relation thereto; defining offenses; providing penalties and repealing certain ordinances concerned ' with or relating to the subject matter of this ,ordinance, and de- claring an emergency." 1 Moved by Clark, seconded by Buck that Ordinance No. B -997 providing for the amendment of the traffic ordinance relative to speed, be passed as read: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -998, providing for the vacation of that part of South Eighth Street in the City'of.Yakima, Washington between Maple Street and Beech Street. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that Ordinance No. B -998 providing for the vacation of that part of So. 8th Street between Maple and Beech Streets, be passed as read: carried Buck and Bishop voting aye. Clark voting no, on roll call. Moved by Clark, seconded by Bilshop that this being the time for receiving bids for the construction of an irrigation system on Brown Avenue and other streets.in L I.D. No. 650, and there being only one bid submitted, which, together with the bid already let for pipe exceeded the City Engineer's estimate by approximately 33 per cent; It was ordered that the City Clerk give notice.-to the property owners in said district of a further hearing to be held Wednesday, April 6th, 1949, at 10 o':clock A:M. to determine whether or not they wish to proceed with the improvement: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that we do now adjourn to meet Thursday, March 31, 1949, at 10 o'clock A.M: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. ADJOURNED MEETING.,-THURSDAY,, MARCH 31,1949 The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Buck and :Commissioners Bishop and Clark present on roll call. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck, that the payrolls for the month of March, 1949, be allowed and the City Clerk instructed to issue warrants as follows: Various Depts. $7239.32; .Police Dept. $13,666.76; Fire Dept. $16,295.00; Engineers $3,125.00; Irriga- tion $940.00; Library $2581.80; Cemetery $480.00; Street $715.00; F.R. & P. $2059.80; P.R. & P..310.00 and Water Dept. $7,979.80: carried Buck, Bishop and 'Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that this being the time for receiving bids on two Pick -up Trucks for the Irrigation Dept. and one Jeep Truck; the .bid of Hahn Motor Co. in the sum of $3080.00 less trade -in of $777.00 or a total of $2303.00 being the only bid received, said award was made to them. No bid was received on the.Jeep Truck: carried Buck, Bishop and ,Clark voting aye on roll call.
