The minutes of the! regular meeting of Monday, January 24, 1949, were approved as read. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that the payrolls for the month of January, 1.949, be allowed and the City Clerk authorized to issue warrants on the following departments; Various Dept. $7,064.32; Engineering $2,905.00; Police $14,396.54; Fire $15,905.00; Irrigation $940.00.; Library $2,474.70; Cemetery $480.00; Street $435.00; F.R. & P. $2.,122.30; P.R. & P. $310.00; Water $8,104.01; Retirement Miscl. $1,965.17: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that this being the time for receiving bids for equipment for the Water Department, the following were awarded bids: Burrows Motor 'Co. 12 ton truck, $17,7.70; 2 -2 ton Pick -ups, $3,060.10; South Tacoma Welding Co. 1. Flat Bed Dump $735.57. Also equipment for Street Dept. 1 -3/4 ton Truck, $1,609.00, Hahn Motor Co; Burrows Motor Co., Truck Body & Hoist $628.00; 'Cox and 'Co., Tar Kettle $717.50 Breaker, $1,875.00,; Compressor $1,498.00: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that the report of the Finance Committee for invest- ments purchased during the month of January, 1949, was approved as follows: Commissioners, Yakima, Wash. Gentlemen: The following .investments were purchased during the month of January, 1949; Cemetery Trust Yakima L.I.D. 621 - Bonds 1 to 17 Yakima L.I.D. 633 - Bonds 1 to 26 Yakima L.I.D. 654 - Warrant 4437 C.R. for Municipal. Purposes. Moved by Buck, seconded by Clark that the postponed meeting on the hearing of Resolu- tion No. C -808 providing for curbs and gutters on 14th Avenue and other streets in said city and a supplemental protest being filed in said matter by property owner 's in said district; It is ordered that said matter be taken under advisement and a report made at a later date :` carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Buck, seconded by Clark that W. M. Yeaman was reappointed to serve as Trustee on the Library Board, fora term of 5 years beginning on January 1, 1949, and ending January 1, 1954: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that this being the time for receiving bids for the construction of the 31st Avenue North Sewer System, the _following were received.: Waters Crane Service 13,858.10; Don Akins, Inc., $9,646.80; State :Construction -Co. $9,079.30; G.G. Te:skey 8,695.70; J. M. DeBlasio 8,189.20; Gallagher &Brandt $8,075.00 The bid of Gallagher & Brandt being the lowest and best bid, said contract was awarded to them and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City of Yakima for, doing said work upon filing of the proper bond as required by law: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -9761 amending Ordinance No. B -725 entitled: "AN ORDINANCE providing for the improvement of property in the City of Yakima, Washington, by the construction of a domestic water system, establishing a local improvement district, providing for the method of payment therefor and creating a special fund." Moved by Buck, seconded by Clark that Ordinance No. B -976 be passed as read: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -975, amending Section 6 of Ordinance No. B -239 entitled: "AN ORDI- NANCE relating to health and sanitation; providing for and regulating the collection and disposal of garbage, refuse and dead animals in the City of Yakima; regulating the operation of the City Dump and the City Incinerator; providing penalties for the violation hereof; repealing Ordinance No. A -619 and Section 103 of Ordinance No. A- 205, and all other Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith." Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that Ordinance No. B -975 relative to collection of garbage in residential district be passed as read: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
