The City Commission met in ,regular session, Mayor Buck and Commissioners Bishop and
Clark present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, January 10, 1949 and adjourned meeting
thereof were approved as read.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Buck that this being the time for the hearing on the assess-
ment roll in L.I.D. No. 625, and there being objections on,the part of property owners
in said district; It is ordered that said hearing be continued to Monday,, January 24,
1949 at 10 o!clock A.M:carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that this being the time for receiving bids for the
purchase of a car for the Water Dept. and there being none received; It is ordered
that the Finance Commissioner'be authorized to purchase said car on the open market:
carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.,
Moved by Bishop, seconded by Clark that this being the time for receiving bids on chlor-
ine for the Water Dept. for the ensuing year and the bids of Pennsylvania Salt Co. and
Hooker Electrocb`Orriical �Co, of Tacoma having identical; It.was ordered that said bid
be awarded to the Pennsylvania Salt Cos carried Buck, Bishop andlClark voting aye on
roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -964, confirming the assessment roll covering Local Improvement District
No. 608, as created and established by Ordinance No. B -725 of the ordinances of the City
of Yakima, Washington.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Buck that this being the time for the hearing on the assess-
ment roll in L.I.D. No. 608, and there being no objections in writing or otherwise to
said objection or any part thereof; It is ordered that Ordinance No. B -964 confirming
said assessment roll and every part thereof be passed as read: carried Buck, Bishop
and Clark voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Clark, seconded.by Bishop that this being the time for the hearing on Resolu-
tion No. C -808, providing for the construction of curb and gutters on So. 14th Avenue
and other streets in that vicinity and a petition being presented being filed by a
number of property owners inTsaid district objecting to the improvement thereof; It is
ordered that the hearing be postponed for two weeks on Monday, January 31, 1949 at 10
o'clock A.M: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -965, confirming the assessment roll, covering Local Improvement District
No. 626, as created and established by Ordinance No. B -783 of the Ordinances of the
City of Yakima.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Buck that this being the time for the hearing on the assess -I,
ment roll in L.I.D. No. 6269 and there being no objections in writing or otherwise to
said assessment roll or any part thereof; It is ordered that Ordinance No. B -965 con-
firming said ordinance and every part thereof be passed as read: carried Buck, Bishop
and Clark voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -966, confirming the assessment roll, covering Local Improvement Dis-
trict No. 628, as created and established by Ordinance No. B -788 of the Ordinances of
the City of Yakima.
Moved by `Clark, seconded by Bishop that this being the time for the hearing on the
assessment roll in L.I.D. No. 628', and there being no objections in writing or other-
wise to said as roll or any part thereof; It is ordered that Ordinance No. B-
966 confirming said assessment roll and every part thereof be passed as read: carried
Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -967, providing for the improvement'of property in the City of Yakima,
Washington, by the construction of a sewer; establishing a Local Improvement District;
providing for the method of payment therefor and creating a special fund.
Moved byClark, seconded by Bishop that this being the postponed hearing on Resolution
No. C -810, providing for the construction of a sewer district on 31st Avenue North
and other streets in said district and there being no objections in writing or otherwise
to said improvement or any part thereof; It is ordered that Ordinance No. B -967 creat-
ing a Zocal Improvement District for said improvement be passed as read: carried Buck,
Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that the City Clerk is hereby instructed to give
notice to bidders for the construction of a sewer on 31st Avenue North and other streets
in L.I.D. No. 656, said bids to be received on Monday, January 31, 1949 at 10 oiclock
A.M: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
—ORDINANCE NO. B -968, authorizing the employment of, an extra clerk for the Police De-
partment and authorizing the expenditure of funds not budgeted and declaring.an emergen-
cy.
Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that Ordinance'No. B -968 be passed as read: carried
Buck, Bishop and {Clark voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION N0, C -812, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE 'CITY OF YAKIMA, WN:
That it is its intention to improve the North side of West
Lenox Avenue from 12th Avenue South to 16th Avenue South, by constructing a cement con-
crete pavement six inches in thickness extending from the north edge of the existing
pavement to the existing curb and gutter, all of said improvement to be constructed in
full accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepared by the City Engineer
and filed with the City Clerk.
The district to be served by and assessed for the above describe
improvement is situate in Yakima +County, Washington, and described as follows, to -wit:
The South Half of the Southwest Quarter of
the Northwest Quarter of Section 25, Township
13 North, Range 18, E.W.M.

All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improve-
ment are hereby notified to appear and present such objections, if any, at a meeting
of the =City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yak-
ima, Yakima County, Washington, at the hour of 10 o'clock A.M., on Monday, the 7th
day of February, 1949, which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all
matters relating to said proposed improvement or object1 bn's, thereto, and for deter-
mining the method of payment for said improvement; and the,rCity Clerk is hereby dir-
ected to give due; notice of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid
improvement.
The Cost and expense of said improve-tent., including the cost
of acquiring right of way easements, engineering, surveying, advertising, publication
of notices, and all other expenses incident thereto, shall be borne by-and assessed
against all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by
law and as above described; and the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit; to the
City Commission at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data
and other information required by law to be by him submitted.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION this 17th day of January, 1949.
