APRIL 2, 1958
The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Alderson, Commissioners Schutt and
Mathews and Assistant Attorney Loy present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of March 26th, 1958 and the adjourned meetings thereof)
were approved as read.
This being the time for hearing on the assessment roll for L.I.D. No. 855, Nob Hill Side-
walk District and the City Engineer reporting a correction in the assessment on three
parcels, namely 1043, 1057 and 105$, in the total amount of $161.58, said amount being
given credit by reducing the Engineering and Inspection charges against said district,
and all protests having been heard and considered and filed in writing with the City
Engineer, it was Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -2150 confirm-
ing said assessment roll and every part thereof, be passed as read: carried, Alderson,
Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B- 2150, AN ORDINANCE confirming the assessment roll covering Local Improv
ment District No. $55 as created and established by Ordinance No. B -2048 of the Ordinan-
ces of the City of Yakima.
This being the time for receiving bids for the construction of a storm sewer in the
vicinity of 29th Avenue and Lincoln Avenue, the following bids were received:

MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that said bids be referred to the City Engineer for
recommendation: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
Bids to be received and considered on this date for the purchase of a new or used type
scraper of approximately six cubic yard capacity for the Sanitation Department and the
bid of Webb Tractor Company in the amount of $1750.00 being the only bid received, it
was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that said bid be taken under advisement: carried
Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
This being the time for receiving bids for the purchase of one desk model bookkeeping
machine for the Water Department and the b'd.of e Na hfijash . Re ister Company in
the amount of $773.'13, including sales taxegweM�� �t�x�t�;e econded by Mathews
that said bid be taken under advisement: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting
aye on roll call.
Bids to be received and considered on this date for the printing of the plumbing code
sheets and cover only without binding and the bid of P.S. Printers, Inc., in the amount
of 100 books $386.10; 150 books $331.58 and 300 books $p351.75; extra run to die cut cover
$5.20 for 100 books: $6.25 for 150 books and $7.20 for. 300 books; cost of making die
extra; said bid being the only one received, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt
that this bid be taken under advisement: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting
aye on roll call.
Bids having been received on March 26, 1958 for the construction of curb, gutter and
surfacing of 4th Avenue and other streets and the City Engineer now recommending the bid
of C & E Construction Company as the lowest and best bid, it was Moved by Mathews, second
ed by Alderson that said bid:-; be awarded in accordance with the recommendation: carried,
Alderson, Mathews voting aye on roll call. Schutt not voting.
The City Engineer reporting the following estimates for payment for work performed on
City Contracts during the month-of March, 1958:

it was Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that said estimates be paid in accordance
with the engineers report: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Mathews, seconded by Alderson that the Mayor and the City Clerk be and are
hereby authorized to execute Amendment No. 2 of Grant Agreement in connection with the
improvement of the municipal airport in accordance with Resolution No. C -1572: carried,
Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -1572, A RESOLUTION authorizing the appropriate city officials of the
City of Yakima to accept and execute Amendment No. 2 of Grant Agreement in connection wits
the improvement of the municipal airport.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima has heretofore executed a Grant
Agreement with the Civil Aeronautics Authority providing for certain improvements at the
Yakima Municipal Airport, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the City.of
Yakima to amend said Grant Agreement, NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY'COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That the Mayor and City Clerk be, and they are hereby,
authorized on behalf of the City of Yakima to accept and execute Amendment No. 2 to Grant
Agreement, Contract No. C4ca- 3947 -A, Project No. 9 -45- 023 -0705, which Amendment No. 2
reads as follows:

extension west and runway 9 -27; install high intensity
runway lighting system on runway 9 -27; relocate fencing
west end runway 9 -27. (The airport development to be
accomplished herein described is in addition to those
contemplated under the Grant Agreements by the sponsor by
the sponsor and the United States for Projects Nos.
9 -45- 023 -901, 9 -45- 023 -902, 9 -45- 023 -203 and 9 -45- 023 - 504)."
It is further understood and agreed that Paragraph 8 of said Grant Agreement is hereby
deleted.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this Amendment to said Grant Agreement
to be duly executed as of the 2nd day of April, 1958.

Moved by Mathews, seconded by Alderson that the Jake Leingang Plat be accepted by the
City Commission and referred to the City Attorney for completion of procedure: carried,
Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
The Clerk having read a memo signed by Commissioner Mathews recommending the hiring of an
additional operator for the sewage treatment plant in accordance with the recommendation
of Paul L. Page, Foreman at the plant, said additional operator needed because of the
extra work which will be required by the industrial waste system, it was MOVED by Schutt,
seconded by Mathews that such a person be hired immediately so that the training will be
completed before the system goes into operation: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews
voting aye on roll call.
A vacancy having been created on the Planning Commission by the resignation of John E.
Pollard, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Jack Crimin be appointed to
fill this unexpired term: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
