FEBRUARY 13, 1958
The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Alderson -and Commissioners Schutt and
Mathews and Assistant.City Attorney Carl Loy present on roll call.
Minutes of the meeting of February 5, 1958, were approved as read.
This being the time for receiving bids on pipe and fittings for the Irrigation Department
for L.I.D. 861, the following bids were received:
H. D. Fowler Co., Seattle - bidding on all items $2061.19
Fosseents, Inc. Yakima " " " it 2075.86

Tacoma Plbg. Sply.Yakima bidding items 4,5,6 and 7 72.22
moved by Mathews, seconded by Alderson that the bids be referred to Frank Stein, Superin-
tendent of Irrigation, for tabulation and recommendation: carried, Alderson, Schutt and
Mathews voting aye on roll call
Bids having been received February 5, 1958 for the purchase of paint for the street
department, it was moved by Mathews and seconded by Schutt that the bid of W. P. Fuller
and Company being the lowest and best bid, be awarded in accordance with John Mayo,Street
Engineerts recommendation: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call
This being the time for awarding bids for the purchase of salt for the street department
and John Mayo, Street Engineer, recommending that we do not make this purchase until
October, it was moved by-Mathews and seconded by Schutt that the award on the salt bids
be tabled until we receive an opinion from the City Attorney as to future advertising:
carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Mathews, seconded by Alderson that Ordinance No. B -2133 rezoning certain prop-
erty in Syndicate Subdivision, Kerts Second Addition, from R -3 zone to B -3 zone, be
passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE N0._B -213;, AN ORDINANCE rezoning certain specific property situate in the
City of Yakima, County of Yakima, Washington and declaring an emergency.
Moved by Mathews and seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -2134 rezoning certain
property in the City of Yakima, being Lots 1 and 2, Block 88, Town of North Yakima, from
B -2 zone to B -3 zone, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting
aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B- 2134:, AN ORDINANCE rezoning certain specific property situate in the City
of Yakima, County of Yakima, Washington;•and declaring an emergency.
Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that the City Clerk is hereby directed to give
notice of hearing on the petition of the Metropolitan Park District for annexation to
the City of Yakima the following described property: beginning at the Northwbst Corner
of Block 18, Plat of Section 36, Township 13 North, Range 1$, E.W.M., as recorded in
Volume E of Plats, page 36, Records of Yakima County, Washington; Thence East 220 feet;
thence South 145 feet, thence West -220 feet, thence North 145 feet to the point of begin-
ning; said hearing to be on Wednesday, February 26, 1958, at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m.:
carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
On January 22nd, 1958, at a regular meeting of the City Commission letters from Statewide
City Employees Retirement System were read requesting the City Commission to approve
extension of employment for Homer Lee, Harry Leibold and Edward Muntz, all employees of
the Water Department, s �,,faterr f5epartintnit, and Resolution No. C -1556
was passed under condition made by Mr: Mathews and since that condition has been agreed
upon, it was moved by Schutt and seconded by Mathews that Resolution C -1556 be amended
to-read as follows: Homer Lee, Harry Leibold and Edward Maritz employment be extended to
July 1, 1958,and Resolution No. C -1565 extending such employment be passed as read:
carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -1565, WHEREAS Homer Lee, Harry Leibold and Edward Mantz have reached
retirement age, and
WHEREAS, the three above named employees are now eligible for
Statewide City Employees Retirement and will be eligible for Social Security on July 1,
1958, be it therefore resolved by the City Commission that the three above mentioned
employees shall be retired on July 1, 195$, and
WHEREAS the position of general foreman in the water department
.is now vacant. °
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE `
CITY OF YAKIMA.
That Glenn Perkins be and is hereby appointed to the position of
general foreman effective February 1, 1958.
This Resolution repeals Resolution No. C -1556 dated January 22,
1958.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION, signed and approved this 13th
day of February, 1958.
