The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and Huey
present on roll call,
The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, February 27, 1956, were _approved as read.
This being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. 9-1340, providing for the constru
tion of concrete curbs and gutters on the east side of 16th Avenue South, from Lenox to
Mead Avenue, and-there being a substantial petition of remonstrance against the type of
material to be used for said improvement; it was MOVED by Huey, seconded by Huza that
the hearing be postponed for two weeks, or until Monday, March 19, 1956 at 10 1'clock
a.m.: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll calls
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that Resolution No. C -1349, providing for the construc-
tion of an irrigation system with the necessary headwOrks,. main line, laterals, service
connections and other appurtenances to serve property beginning at the intersection of
Mead Avenue and 6th Avenue.South, and other property more fully described and set forth
In said resolution, and fixing the date of hearing on said resolution as of Monday, the
26th day of March, 1956, be adopted as read: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye
on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -1349, 'BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That it is its intention to construct an irrigation system with
the necessary headworks, main line, laterals, service connections and other appurtenance+
to serve the following described property, situate in the City of Yakima, Yakima County,
Washington, to-wit:
Beginning at the intersection of Mead Avenue and 6th Avenue
South; thence southerly along 6th Avenue South to King Street;
thence easterly along King Street to 5th Avenue South; thence
northerly along 5th Avenue South to Mead Avenue; thence easterly
along Mead Avenue to the north- -south property line between Lots
2 and 3 of Broadway -Mead Half,Acre Tracts No. l; thence South to
the north line of Lot 5 of said subdivision; thence east along
the north line of said Lot 5 extended to the center line of 3rd
Avenue South; thence southerly along the center line of 3rd
Avenue South to Pierce Street; thence westerly along Pierce
Street to Cornell Avenue; thence northerly along Cornell Avenue
to Mead Avenue; thence easterly along Mead Avenue to the point
of beginning;
said improvement to consist of the construction of the necessary main, laterals, service
connections, and other appurtenances to deliver water, for irrigation purposes to each
lot within the proposed district, and to be constructed in full accordance with the
plans and specifications to be prepared.by the City Engineer and filed with the City
Clerk.
All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improve-
ment are hereby notified to appear and present such objection, if any, at a meeting of
the City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima,
Yakima County, Washington, at the hour of 1b :00 o'clock a.m. on Monday, the;26th day of
March, 1956; which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters re-
lating to said proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the metho
of payment for said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due
notice of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.
The costs and expenses of said improvement, including the engi-
neering, inspection, advertising, publication of notices and all other expenses incident
thereto, shall be levied and assessed against all of the property legally and properly
assessable therefor as provided by law and as above described; and the City Engineer is
hereby directed to submit to the City Commission at or prior to the date herein fixed
for said hear.ing,.all of the data and other information required by law to be.by him sub
witted.

Moved by Huza, seconded by Huey that Ordinance No. B -1855, providing for the purchase of
a radio receiver for the Irrigation Department and providing for the transfer of funds
in the sum of $465,00 from the Material and Supplies item of $6,000.00 in said depart-
ment, be passed as read: carried, Burns.. Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -18559 AN-ORDINANCE providing for the purchase of a radio receiver for
the Irrigation Department, providing for transfer of funds therefor, and declaring an
emergency.
An ordinance was introduced for the expenditure of funds not budgeted for the purchase
of sacks, sand and other suitable materials for sand bags for protection against threate
ed floods, was read in full,by the City Clerk and laid on the table for one week as pro-
vided by law and the City Charter.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns.that the report of the Investment Committee for invest-
ments purchased during the month of February 1956, be accepted and allowed, as follows:

A RESOLUTION fiking the time for hearing on petition for vacation of alley.
WHEREAS, a petition has been filed with the City Commission of the City of
Yakima, -a municipal corporation, praying for the vacation of that certain alley des -
cribed as follows, to wit:
That certain 20 foot alley running in a north and south
direction and lying between Lots l through 8, and Lots
9"thrbu h 161 in Block 275, Lund's Addition to North
Yakima now Yakima) according to the official plat there -
of'recorded in Volume "A" of Plats, page 103, records of
Yakima County, Washington.;
said alley "running from Pine Street to Maple Street through said Block 275.,Lundrs Addi,tic
as above described, and being situate in Yakima County, State of Washington;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
YAKIMA:
That said petition shall be brought on for hearing and determination on
Monday, the 2nd day of April 1956, at the hour of 10 o'clock in the forenoon on said day
at the office of the City: Commission -of the City of Yakima, at the City Hall in Yakima,
Yakima County, Washington, or as soon thereafter as the same may be heard, and t .,hat',`not-
