The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and Huey
present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, August 29, 1955 and adjourned meeting
of were approved as read.
This being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. C -1272 providing for the construc-
tion of a pipe sewer on Lots 1 to 13, inclusive, of Chestnut Park Addition, and there
being no objections in writing or otherwise, to said improvement, or any part thereof; i
was MOVED by Huey, seconded by Huza that Ordinance No. B -1737, creating L.I.D. No. 820, b
passed as read: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1737, AN ORDINANCE providing for the improvement of certain property by
constructing a pipe sewer with the necessary wye branches and manholes; establishing a
local improvement district, providing for the method of payment thereof, and creating a
special fund.
This being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. 0-1273 providing for the construc-
tion of concrete curbs and gutters on the east side of 26th Avenue South beginning at a
point 100 feet south of the south line of Tieton Drive and extending south 260 feet; and
there .being objections to said improvement; it was MOVED by Huey, seconded by Huza that
the City Engineer be instructed to report to the City'Commission the percentage of pro-
tests, and that said hearing be postponed to a later date: carried, Burns, Huza and Hues
voting aye on roll call.

Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns that the report of the Investment Committee for invest-
ments purchased during the month of August, 1955, were approved as follows: carried,
Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.

Zoning Ordinance No. B -293, be passed as read: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting a

ORDINANCE NO. B -1738, AN ORDINANCE amending Section 15 of the Zoning Ordinance No.
B-293, entitled "AN ORDINANCE regulating and restricting the location of trades and
industries; regulating and limiting the use of buildings and premises; and the height
and size of buildings; providing for yards, courts and other open spaces; establishing
districts for said purposes, and providing for a board of adjustment, and repealing
Ordinances Nos.-B-22, B -35, B -43, B -51, B -71, B -126, B-147 and B -17211; requiring that
-any non - residential building or structure located on a designated arterial shall be set
back not less than 50 feet from the front lot line, as to new construction, except in
the downtown business district.

of certain property more particularly described and set forth in said ordinance for
public parts purposes, and providing for the method of payment therefor, be passed as

Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns that Resolution No. C -1283 providing that the busses of
the Yakima Valley Transportation Company be permitted to turn around on that triangular
piece of property located at East Yakima Avenue and Terrace Heights Road, be adopted as
read: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. 0-1283, WHEREAS, Section 3 of Ordinance No. B- 731,.passed by the City Com-
mission of the City of Yakima on the 18th day of September, 1946, provides among other
things, that the City Commission may declare by resolution that public convenience re-
quires service on any street or streets within the City of Yakima where the Yakima Valley
Transportation Company, a corporation, does.not provide such service; and that the City
Commission may order and direct the Yakima Valley Transportation Company, a corporation,
to institute such new and additional service; and,
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Commission that public co
venience and safety require a change in the bus service as hereinafter provided; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That public convenience and safety require the following change
in the route of the Yakima Valley Transportation Company buses, namely, that the present
bus route which now extends south from Yakima Avenue on Naches Avenue to .Chestnut Street,
thence East on Chestnut Street , to _'-Sixth'_.Street, thence north on 6th Street to Yakima
Avenue shall be cancelled and said bus route shall be changed to extend east on Yakima
Avenue from the intersection of Naches Avenue and Yakima Avenue to the triangle at the
intersection of Yakima Avenue and Terrace Heights Way, at which point a turn around space
will be provided for, and permission is hereby given to use the property.owned by the
city, namely, the triangle at that intersection named above for such use.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Yakima Valley Transportation
Company, a corporation, be and it-hereby is ordered and directed to install the new ser-
vice as above described.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be deliver
to the Superintendent or Manager in charge of the Yakima Valley Transportation Company's
operations in Yakima, Washington.

Yakima Valley Poster Service to construct, install, improve and maintain two customary
large outdoor advertising signs on that certain triangular piece of city property located
at the interesection of East Yakima Avenue and Terrace Heights Road, be.adopted as read:

RESOLUTION NO. C -12849 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
-That in consideration of the payment to the -City of the sum of
$75.00 annually in advance, the City of Yakima agrees that the Yakima Valley Poster
Service may construct, install, improve and maintain 2 customary large outdoor advertisinE
signs, on that certain triangular piece of city property located at the intersection of
East Yakima Avenue and Terrace Heights.Road; it appearing that the same will not interfere
with any other use of said property by the City; and the said arrangement may continue
thereafter indefinitely subject to termination by either party upon thirty days written
notice to the other at the end of any such annual period.

Police Department, in the sum of $1,361.20'each, is hereby rejected: carried,.Burns, Hu
and Huey voting aye on roll call.
This being the time for receiving bids for the purchase of Anti- freeze for. the various
departments of the City of Yakima-, and,for salt for the Street Department, said bids were
tabulated and taken under advisement by the City Commission to be awarded at a later date;

This being the time for the adoption of the Preliminary budget, and the committee appoint
ed by the Chamber of Commerce to assist in the preparation thereof; having recommended
the postponement of the adoption of said budget to Friday, the :9th day of September; it
was MOVED by Burns, seconded by Huza that we do now adjourn to meet Friday, September .9,
1955 at the hour of 10 o'clock as above set forth: carried, Burns,;Huza and Huey voting
aye on roll call.
ADJOURNED MEETING, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1955, 10 :00 A.M.
The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and
Huey present on roll call.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Huey that Resolution No. C -1285 being the preliminary•budget
for the fiscal year covering the estimated expenditures and receipts, and fixing the date
for final passage as Monday, the 3rd day of October, 1955, at 10 o'clock a.m., be adopted
as read: carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -1285, WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the City Commission of the
City of Yakima, Washington, a preliminary budget covering the detailed estimates of all
expenditures proposed to be made by the City of Yakima for the ensuing fiscal year, and a
statement of the probable revenue from sources other than taxation for the ensuing fiscal
year, in the manner and form prescribed by law, and
WHEREAS, the same has been considered by the City Commission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That the aforesaid preliminary budget be and the same is hereby
adopted as the preliminary budget for the, City of Yakima for the ensuring fiscal. year, an
the City Clerk is hereby directed -to give notice that said preliminary budget has been
completed and placed on file, and a copy thereof will be furnished any taxpayer who will
call at the office of the City Clerk therefor, and that the City Commission of the City
of,Yakima will meet on the first Monday of October 1955, at the office of the City Com-
mission in the City Hall, at the hour of 10.o1clock A.M., for the purpose of fixing the
final budget and making the tax levies and notifying-any taxpayer that he may appear at
said meeting and be heard for or against any part of said budget, and said notice shall
be.published once each week for two consecutive weeks immediately following the adoption
of said preliminary budget.
Adopted by the City Commission, signed and approved this 9th day
of-September 1955•
