Unfortunately, due to poor weather conditions in the previous months, Fisher Park rounds are still down from last year. Although the rounds were down, there is good news. Fisher is down 59 rounds which is only 1% less than last years numbers and July seemed to be a very good month but we don't have those numbers yet. Fisher Park hosted the KXDD Family Tournament which was had 36 players and the Parent/Child Tournament had 12 teams for a total of 24 players. Upcoming Tournaments include the I" Annual Senior Tourney on Aug 8`h, the Couples Tourney on Aug 24th, the 1s` Annual 3- Club Tourney on Sept 14th, and the 18 Hole Best Ball Twosome on Sept 27th This year Fisher tried a Junior League and 13 children played 18 holes every Tuesday for five weeks. This program took the place of the Teen League which was cancelled last year due to zero participants. PeeWee Golf lessons were full with 16 kids but the Adult lessons stumbled a bit with over half of the lessons cancelled due to poor turnout. This may be attributed to the late start of finding a pro and the lack of advertising the lessons. Nonetheless, we hope to improve on this neat year. The First Tee Program is in full swing at Fisher every Monday and Thursday between the hours of 10 am to 2 pm. An agreement was reached to allow ht Tee to use holes 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7. This allows Fisher Park to remain open to the public during those hours and patrons can play holes 4, 5, 8, and 9 twice for $5. On June 17th, New Leaders of Yakima County held a successful fundraiser with monies earmarked to help purchase a 15' readerboard sign to advertise the course. To date, the application process is still in the City's Permit Dept waiting for a Class 3 designation? We find it hard to understand the resistance since this sign is for the City of Yakima.. Is there any way that the Council could speed up the process before the season is over? We would hate to see their efforts wasted if the sign does not get installed this season. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In conclusion, there has been very positive feed back from the general public to keep the course open. We believe that with the right advertising technique and tools, Fisher Golf Course can once again be viable without the threat of closing. Sincerely, Tom Hinman Yakima Parks Commission 509- 9494913
