The cost for the basic survey service is $10,300. The basic service includes the
following items:
-mailing to 1,200 residents
-comparison to prior NCS results
-national benchmark comparisons
In 2012, the City paid for the following additional options:
-expanded mailing (from 1,200 sample residents to 3,000)
$7,100
-geographic subgroup comparisons (by Council district)
$1,100
-web survey (scientific — limited to sample group)
$900
-web survey (non-scientific — open to everyone)
$650
-Spanish survey for 3,000 residents
$12,500
-Spanish web survey (scientific — limited to sample group)
$400
-Spanish web survey (non-scientific — open to everyone)
$250
The basic cost plus the additional options for 2013 would be $33,200.
The FY 2013
budget includes $35,000 for the survey.
Similar to last year, the Council can ask three custom questions in the survey. The
custom questions in 2012 were:
1. How much would you support or oppose each of the following ways to fu
future street/roa• repairs in Yakima?
a. Annual $20 car tab fee • all registered vehicles
If we start the process now, we could potentially have the results back in July (one year
after I started). This way the citizens would have one full year to gauge the overall
direction • Yakima and hopefully, noticed some improvements. The timeline is as

June Survey analysis and reportt writi
July Receive final reports I
Please be thinking about these items. I will be discussing them with you in the next few
weeks.
