No Funding Source: Phone: APPROVED FOR SUBMITTAL: City Manager STAFF RECOMMENDATION: BOARD /COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: ATTACHMENTS: Click to download Arts Commission Logo Contest CH YAXIIIA PROCLAWA 'IOW w ERAS, in 2008 the City of (Yakima esta6fished the 'Yakima Arts Commission to serve as a liaison to the (Yakima City CounciCin matters associated with visual and peionning arts, community 6eautcation, and culture; and WXERAS, art has the a6ifity to have an enormous impact on the fives of individuals and can foster a unique sense of common identity; and WXEEAS, in order to foster and encourage youth participation, the (Yakima Arts Commission sponsored a contest for focal graphic art students to develop a pogo that could 6e used 6y the (Yakima Arts Commission in the general6usiness of the work; and fEREAS, a total of 13 entries were su6mitted 6y graphic arts students at Perry Technical Institute, under the direction of instructor Shawn L7fayden; and '31E?EAS, the (Yakima Arts Commission carefufty evaluated each of the Cogo contest entries for unique and original design, clarity, application, and other retatedfactors; and WXEREAS, a winning Cog design was chosen and the artist invited to workwith the (Yakima Arts Commission, NOW TYPEREEORE, Cawley, 9frlayor of the City of (Yakima, and on behalf of the City Council, do here6y proclaim 1(im Walt as "Arts Commission Logo Contest Winner" YAKIMA ARTS • COMMISSION Yakima City Hall 129 North 2nd Street Yakima, WA 98901 and encourage our citizens to congratulate her on this accomplishment.
