Attendance at National League of Cities Conference and congressional meetings in Washington, DC Mayor Cawley, Assistant Mayor Coffey and Council Member Adkison (schedule permitting) are scheduled to attend the NLC Conference and congressional meetings in WA, DC. City staff members will include City Manager Dick Zais and Community and Economic Development Deputy Director Michael Morales. Assistant Mayor Coffey requested a review of the City Charter to allow the citizens to vote on the mayor. Other areas for review would include updating the charter language and examining the process for election of district Council members by only the citizens residing in the specific district instead of the current system of all citizens voting for all Council members. These issues will be assigned to the Council Rules and Procedures Committee. E. • E 11 Ell SPECIAL MEETING — JANUARY 6, 2009 BOARDS & COMMISSION ASSIGNMENTS 4. Audience Comments (9:15 — 9:30 a.m.) Luz Gutierrez,and Nestor Hemandez, representing the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, presented a decorated bread to the Council in celebration of El Dia de Los Ties Reyes. 5. Adjournment ENSEY MOVED AND COFFEY SECONDED TO ADJOURN. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote. The meeting adjourned at 9:37 am.
