R- 2001 -63 A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the City Manager of the City of Yakima to execute a Modification to the Architectural Services Agreement with Wardell Architects, P.S. to study the feasibility of expansion alternatives for the Police Station /Legal Center. WHEREAS, on October 5, 1999, the City Council authorized execution of an Architectural Services Agreement with Wardell Architects, P.S.; for the preparation of a study to determine the feasibility of expansion to the Police Station /Legal Center located at 200 South Third Street, Yakima, Washington; WHEREAS, due to the extended duration of the study, certain information needs to be updated and additional meetings with City representatives are necessary that were not envisioned under the scope of the Agreement; and WHEREAS, Wardell Architects, P.S., is willing to provide these additional services in accordance with the attached March 22, 2001 Modification to the Agreement; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City of Yakima to authorize execution of the March 22, 2001 Modification to the Architectural Services Agreement with Wardell Architects, P.S., for Expansion Alternatives for the Police Station /Legal Center, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Manager of the City of Yakima is hereby authorized and directed to execute the attached and incorporated Modification to the Architectural Services Agreement with Wardell Architects, P.S. to study the feasibility of expansion alternatives for the Police Station /Legal Center. Jeff Schneider 200 South 3rd Street Yakima, WA 98901 Re: Yakima Police and Legal Center Expansion Study Project No. 1052.07 Dear Jeff As you are aware we have been providing professional services preparing a long range expansion strategy for the Police and Legal Center. The study has continued over a longer time frame than we anticipated. This has led to the need to update information and meet with appropriate client representatives additional times. This was not envisioned in our fee proposal of July 27, 1999. At this time we estimate an additional $3,000 in addition to amounts already billed will be necessary to see the study through to conclusion. The study is a part of our on -going consulting contract for the Police and Legal Center. Fee Maximum: $88,500.00 Amount for initial building construction - 55.000.00 Study Amount 33,000.00 Study Amount billed (including 3/6/01 Statement) 35,046.76 Study Additional 3.000.00 38,046.76 Study Previously Approved - 33,000.00 $ 5,046.76 (round to $5,000.00) We are requesting and additional $5,000.00. The new not to exceed contract amount will be $93,500.00, of which $38,000 will be the maximum billing for the study. Should the above meet with your approval please sign and return one copy of this letter thereby authorizing continuing services. On October 5, 1999, Council enacted a resolution extending the consulting contract with Wardell Architects, P.S. and authorized $33,000 to provide a feasibility study for the expansion of the Police Station /Legal Center, to include information gathering, development of projected growth and footprint options, and preparation of final recommendations. Due to the extended duration of the study, certain information needs to be updated and additional meetings with City representatives are necessary that were not envisioned under the scope of the original agreement. The cost to complete this project is $5,000.
