AN ORDINANCE repealing an existing ordinance regulating
• the provision of cable television in the City
of Yakima.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No 2209 granted a franchise to Cox
Cablevision to construct and operate a cable communications
system in the City of Yakima, including any territories
annexed by the City after the passage of Ordinance No. 2209,
and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2443 granted a franchise to
Yakima Valley Cablevision to provide cable communications in
certain portions of Yakima County annexed by the City of
Yakima, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. D-5325, Cooke
Cablevision, Inc. currently holds the franchise established
by Ordinance Nos. 2209 and 2443, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yakima has
determined that the activities of its cable communications
franchisee, Cooke Cablevision, should be regulated by one
franchise ordinance rather than two, now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Ordinance No. 2243 of the City of Yakima is
hereby repealed.
Section 2. Ordinance No. 2209 of the City of Yakima
shall govern all of the operations of Cooke Cablevision in
the City of Yakima, including those operations formerly
conducted pursuant to Ordinance No. 2443.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect thirty days after its passage, approval and publica-
tion as provided by law and by the City Charter.
