WHEREAS, the City of Yakima previously has been self insured as to most claims; and WHEREAS, the Transit Division is in the Washington State Transit Insurance Pool ("WSTIP") for Transit claims, effective September 1, 2005, with a $5,000 deductible; and WHEREAS, the City of Yakima is in the Cities Insurance Association of Washington ("CIAW") for other claims, effective December 14, 2005, with a $100,000 deductible; and WHEREAS, the attached Claim Report contains information on the various claims submitted to the City of Yakima along with the disposition; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The attached and incorporated 1st and 2nd Quarter 2007 Claim Report, together with all payments and disbursements listed therein, is hereby accepted, approved, affirmed, and ratified. ZAREMBA CLOSED CLAIMS Listing of claims closed during 2007 to date, which occurred prior to 1/1/2007. Claim Report Format: Previous claim reports included claim data for the current year and a summary for prior years. Because of the way the new program is structured, the data is now based on policy periods. The CLAW policy period is September 1 to August 31 and the WSTIP policy period is January 1 to December 31. CIAW: Cities Insurance Association of Washington. This policy covers liability exposures with the exception of Transit. Coverage is subject to a $100,000 retention, which is similar to a deductible, and was originally written effective 12/14/2005. The policy period runs from September 1 to August 31. WSTIP: Washington State Transit Insurance Pool. This policy covers the liability exposures of the Transit Department and is subject to a $5,000 deductible. The policy period runs from January 1 to December 31. Zaremba: Zaremba Claim Services worked on the City's claims until January of 2007. They are still involved with claims that occurred prior to 2007, that are still open.
