AN ORDINANCE providing for an accountant and necessary office expense
and specifying his duties and declaring an emergency.
WHEREAS, there is now a major construction project in pro -.
cess and other major projects are Bing contemplated and under construc-
tion, and such projects necessitate long range financial planning, and
WHEREAS, there is need for cost accounting and performance
budgeting, and
WHEREAS, it is planned to develop a uniform system of ac-
counts with a manual describing such accounts to be used as a basis for
guidance and training accounting personnel and
WHEREAS, it is desirable and necessary that the Accountant
should be available for assistance to department heads in the prepara-
tion of their annual budgets, and an emergency exists, NOW, THER•EFORE, .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA ;
Section 1. The sum of $5,100.00 be appropriated for the
salary of an Accountant, said_salarty to not exceed $600.00 per month;
the sum of $100.00 is appropriated for any necessary and additional
office expense, and the sum of $120.00 is appropriated for the purpose
of training of office personnel in accounting procedures.
Section 2. The Accountant shall work with and under the
direction of the Commissioner of Finance and Accounting and perform such
duties as shall be assigned him by the Commissioner of Finance and Acc-
ounting or by. the Commission.
Section 3. This ordinance is necessary for the immediate
preservation of the welfare, health and safety of the people of the ,City
of Yakima and anemergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordin-
ance shall be in effect immediately upon its passage, approval and pub-
lication as provided by law and the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COMMISSION, signed and approved this 23rd
day of April, 1958.
