HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-B-2195 74 ORDINANCE NO. B-2195 AN ORDINANCE providing for a full time City Attorney, providing a salary commensurate with such full time employment and declaring an emergency. WHEREAS, The 1958 Budget of the legal department provided for a City Attorney and an Assistant City Attorney, both upon a part time basis, and WHEREAS, both the City Attorney and the Assistant City Attorney resigned as of May 31, 1958 and the City has been without the services of a City Attorney since said date, and WHEREAS, it is impossible to obtain the full time services of a competant Ctty Attorney at an annual salary of less than $10,000.00 dollars and an emergency exists requiring an increase in the annual salary of the City Attorney to $10,000.00 dollars, and WHEREAS, it could not have been reasonably foreseen at the time of the adoption of the 1958 budget of the Legal Department that it would become necessary to obtain the services of a full time City Attorney, and WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that the services of a full time City Attorney are required and necessary in the public inter- est, NOW; THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. That an emergency exists requiring the employ- ment of a full time City Attorney and that it could not have been reasonably foreseen at the time of the adoption of the 1958 budget that such full time employment would be required. Section 2. That the annual salary of the City Attorney to be employed on a full time basis is hereby increased to $10,000.00 Dollars. Section 3. That this ordinance is one providing for an increase in salary and an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance Shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and the City Charter.
