ORDINANCE NO. B-2192
AN ORDINANCE relating to the municipal water and s.ewerage systems. and
providing for an alternative procedure for extension, expan-
sion, and addition of said water and sewerage systems, and
• . providing for the method of financing thereof, _and repealing
Ordinance No. B-1922, and Sections 11 f and 11 m of Ordinance
No. B-606 as amended by Ordinance No. B-1462
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That the purpose of this ordinance is to facili-
tate the orderly growth of the domestic water system and the sanitary
sewer system of the City of Yakima and to provide for an alternate pro-
cedure by which water and sewer lines may be constructed and financed.
Nothing contained herein shall .be construed as supplanting the Local
Improvement District procedure of constructing and financing municipal
improvements.
Section 2. That in the event extensions and additions of the
wateror sewer system of the City of Yakima are undertaken by the water-
sewer utility outside the boundaries of any water or sewer local improve-
ment district, payment for connections to said water or sewer system by
property owners shall be as follows
(a) For lots, tracts or parcelsnot eXceedingsixty (60)
feet of frontage, the connection charge shall be $125.00,
with an additional charge of $2.00 per foot for additional
• frontage.
(b) Where connections are made to premises located outside
the city connection charge shall be $20000
with an .additional charge of $3.00 per foot for additional
frontage.
(c) In the case of corner lots or irregularly shaped lots,
whether inside or outside the city limits, the frontage shall
be considered the same as that for adjacent or nearby regu-
larly shaped lots of approximately the same area.
Section 3. It is the intention of the City Commission that
each lot, tract, or parcel connecting to the water or sewer line shall
bear its proportionate share of the construction costs of the water or
sewer inetallation;_therefore„the-chargesset forth above shall apply to
all lots,tracts or parcels using the water and sewer facilities regard-
less of the manner in which the physical connection is accomplished.
Section 4• . The connection charges provided for herein shall
be paid in full by the property owner at the time a sewer construction
permit is obtained as provided for in Plumbing Ordinance No. B-2137, and/
or at the time of the water meter installation.

Section 5. Property abutting on but not previously assessed
Or not having previously contributed itsjproportionate share of construc-
tion costs may be connected to the water or sewer line upon the payment
of connection charges as herein provided.
Section 6: For extensions abutting vacant or unoccupied pro-

perty where no immediate water or sewer connections are to be made, the
feasibility of extending such water or sewer line will be left to the dis-
cretion_of the City Engineer, provided however, that no extensions will bE
made which average more than 100 lineal feet per connection unless the
property owners desiring such water or sewer line extension pay (in
advance) the connection charge as specified this ordinance for at
least 50% of the total property served by said extension.
Section 7. All monies collected as hereinbefore provided
shall be paid into and credited to the fund known and designated as the
"Water-Sewer Fund" as provided in Ordinance No. 3-1890.
Section 8. That Ordinance No. B-1922, passed by the City
Commission on the 20th day Of August, 1956, be and the same is hereby
repealed.
Section 9. That Sections 11 (f)and. 11 (m) of Ordinance

the same are hereby repealed.

Section 10. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
nci
force 30 days from and after its Passage, ap and Publication.
