HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-032 Amending 1997 Budget • Y 41110 ORDINANCE NO. 97- 32 • AN ORDINANCE amending the 1997 budget for the City of Yakima; making appropriations for AFSCME Labor Settlement and Employee Benefit Reserve adjustment costs from Unappropriated Fund Balances within various Funds for expenditure during 1997. WHEREAS, the various funds indicated on the attached Schedule I contain Unappropriated Fund Balances available for appropriation and expenditure during 1997 in various amounts and for the purposes mentioned in the attached Schedule, and WHEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the 1997 budget' it could not reasonably have been foreseen that the appropriation provided for herein would be . required; and the City Council finds that an emergency exists of the type contemplated by RCW 35.33.091 and that it is in the best interests of the City to make the transfers and appropriations herein provided, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section t Appropriations are hereby made, for expenditure during 1997, from • Unappropriated Fund Balances in the various Funds to the various accounts and in the various amounts, and for the various specific purposes, all as specified in the Schedule attached hereto and incorporated herein. Section 2. This ordinance is one making an appropriation and shall take effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter. . SUBMITTED BY: Department of Finance & Budget Whge� CONTACT PERSON/TELEPHONE: Robert A. eeler 575 -6070 SUMMARY EXPLANATION: The attached Ordinance provides for the recently approved AFSCME Labor Settlement and for increases in Employee Benefit Reserve Medical and Dental rate increases. 1. AFSCME Settlement costs (including non - bargainable items) totaled $359,550. 2. Although final figures were not available on medical /dental rate increases prior to adoption of the 1997 Budget in December, we were able to implement the increased rates and employee contributions effective with the January payroll. 0 The attached Ordinance formalizes the increase of $112,074, which will be partially offset by $83,361 in additional employee and retiree contributions.
