HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-044 Yakima Center Advisory Commission ORDINANCE NO. 98 -14 AN ORDINANCE relating to the Yakima Center advisory commission; removing restrictions on reappointment of commission members; and amending Section 1.88.020 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. Sections 1.88.020 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "1.88.020 Appointment and term of members. A. The Yakima Center advisory commission shall consist of seven regular members appointed by the city council. The center manager shall be an ex officio member of the commission; the city council may appoint such other ex officio members as it deems necessary; however, ex officio members shall act in an advisory capacity to the commission and may not vote on recommendations made by the commission, or on other items of commission business. B. The term of office of each member, other than ex officio members, is for four years unless that tenure expires by reason of death, resignation, inability to serve or by removal by the city council; provided, original appointments shall be made so that two members are appointed for four years, two members for three years, two members for two years and one member for one year. : :- - -- - - :- . - - • : :: himself in office except for those original members appointed for Iess than four year be reappointed sooner than twelve months from the date of that member's retirement. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30 days after its passage, approval, and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter. Roberts /575 -6037 SUMMARY EXPLANATION: At the September 18, 1998 Adjourned Council Meeting, Council discussed the term limitation for members serving on the Yakima Center Advisory Commission. As directed by Council, the attached ordinance eliminates the language from the ordinance that prohibits the reappointment of a member to a second consecutive full term to this Commission.
