HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-018 AMENDING THE 1999 BUDGET. 1 ORDINANCE NO. 99- 18 AN ORDINANCE amending the 1999 budget for the City of Yakima; and making an appropriation of $1,200 within the 150 — Emergency Services Fund for expenditure during 1999 to purchase trauma equipment. WHEREAS, the amount of $1,200 must be appropriated within the 150 — Emergency Services Fund for expenditure during 1999 to purchase trauma equipment, and WHEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the 1999 budget it could not reasonably have been foreseen that the appropriation provided for by this ordinance would be required; and the City Council finds that an emergency exists of the type contemplated by RCW 35.33.091 and that it is in the best interests of the City to make the appropriation herein provided, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. The amount of $1,200 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance in the 150 — Emergency Services Fund to account numbers as shown on Schedule I as a 1999 appropriation. Section 2. This ordinance is one making an appropriation and shall take effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter. Gillespie, Fire Chief — 575 -6060 Abel Castilleja, Training Battalion Chief— 575 -6141 SUMMARY EXPLANATION: The Yakima Fire Department has received a "Pre- hospital Participation Grant" check for $1,200 from the State of Washington, Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical and Trauma Prevention. These funds, described in the "Trauma Care Service funding Act of 1997", are distributed to verified agencies for expenditures made for the purposes of the State trauma care system. It is the intention of the Fire Department to utilize these funds to purchase equipment to improve our reporting system with the Washington State Office of Emergency Medical and Trauma Prevention. The result being the enhancement of safety and quality of life through the provision of superior emergency medical services for the citizens of Yakima. The attached resolution authorizes the City Manager to accept this grant. The attached ordinance increases both the resource and expenditure budgets in the Emergency Services Fund 150.
