AN ORDINANCE amending the 2000 budget for the City of Yakima; and
making an appropriation of $1,200 within the 150 —
Emergency Services Fund for expenditure during 2000
to purchase trauma equipment.
WHEREAS, the amount of $1,200 must be appropriated within the 150 —
Emergency Services Fund for expenditure during 2000 to purchase trauma
equipment, and
WHEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the 2000 budget it could not
reasonably have been foreseen that the appropriation provided for by this
ordinance would be required; and the City Council finds that an emergency
exists of the type contemplated by RCW 35.33.091 and that it is in the best
interests of the City to make the appropriation herein provided, now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. The amount of $1,200 is hereby appropriated from the
Unappropriated Fund Balance in the 150 — Emergency Services Fund to account
numbers as shown on Schedule I as a 2000 appropriation."
Section 2. This ordinance is one making an appropriation and shall take
effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by
law and by the City Charter.

ITEM TITLE: Resolution of_Acceptance of a Grant from State Department of Health for
Trauma Care, and an Ordinance amending the 2000 Budget

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Yakima Fire Department has received a "Pre- hospital Participation Grant" check for $1,200
from the State of Washington, Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical and Trauma
Prevention. These funds, described in the "Trauma Care Service Finding Act of 1997" are
distributed to verified agencies for expenditures made for the purpose of the State Trauma Care
• System.
It is the intention of the Fire Department to utilize these funds to purchase equipment to improve
delivery of emergency medical service to the citizens of the City of Yakima. The result being
the enhancement of safety and quality of life through the provision of improved emergency
medical services for the citizens of Yakima.
