BUSINESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
YAKIMA, WASHINGTON
AGENDA STATEMENT
Item No. ; L i. / 1
For Meeting Of: 2/1/00
ITEM TITLE: Legislation Amending the Classification and Compensation Plan for Certain City
Employees
SUBMITTED BY: Sheryl M. Smith, Deputy Human Resources Manager
CONTACT PERSON /TELEPHONE: Sheryl M. Smith, 576 -6665
SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
On November 16, 1999, Council approved an ordinance amending the compensation plan for most
employee groups effective January 1, 2000. Included in that ordinance was the required adjustment in
compensation for those employees covered by the Public Safety Dispatchers and Supervisor Collective
Bargaining Agreement. Unfortunately, the source documents relied upon to create the ordinance
contained an error which resulted in no adjustment in compensation for the Public Safety Lead
Dispatcher, pay range 558. This ordinance corrects that error by adjusting the Public Safety Lead
Dispatcher compensation by 2.6% effective January 1, 2000 as required by the current collective
bargaining agreement.
